or you could rent a bank deposit box and put the cash in there
because once you deposit the US, you no longer have access to the cash
I saw someone on Facebook saying that Scotia Bank is selling US currency over the counter and even to open USD accounts.thelem-again wrote:RBC is one of the worst.
Its a trap. Trust me.
I had a US Account BEFORE this so called foreign currency restrictions and it was hell.
1. You cannot access your money easily. They set a daily limit to access the cash with an appointment system.
2. You cannot easily wire the money. You have to get an approval from the bank by telling them what is the purpose. Ridiculous.
3. The fees are high to maintain the account and to conduct transactions.
I closed that account and I highly assume that the process is worst with covid and the ongoing forex issues.
Best bet it to open a foreign US Account, return home and wire whatever money to yourself. Be it through PayPal payments or some means etc.
