$50,000 for an indoor COVID cremation?

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » January 11th, 2022, 3:20 pm

What is the cost of a Covid-19 funeral, and the price to cremate a corpse indoors?

This was one of several questions acting secretary-general of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS) Vijay Maharaj asked the Association of Funeral Professionals of Trinidad and Tobago in a letter dated January 7, 2021.

Maharaj stated it had come to the SDMS’ attention that the cost of an indoor cremation can range from about $10,000 to $15,000.

“Recently, however, some estimates have put this cost at between $27,000 to $50,000 per corpse,” he added.

The letter was addressed to Keith Belgrove and David Simpson, who are both directors of funeral homes.

Maharaj requested clarification on these widely varying figures and asked for: 1. The cost of incinerating one corpse; 2. The daily cost of keeping a corpse; 3. The average length of time a corpse is kept before an available date is found; 4. The calculation of the cost of incinerating a body based on weight; 5. Any other costs related to incineration.

Contact ASJA and ask them how they did Yacoob Ali's own. Or call Shaym Islamic Funeral Services Ltd.

A friend relative died on 21st December due to Covid ,they were advised that the cremation could only be done on the 13th January,2022.

They storage and cremation quoted cost was TT$30,000.

More expensive to die due to Covid than live normally without Covid.

Madness with that yes. How much families can afford to pay that
Government has to fix that aspect of it.

Can't ruin peoples finances because of delays with burials and creations

Looks like a nice chunk of the fees is storage fees.

Recently did a funeral through an Islamic funeral service, total cost $6300. Wasn't covid but prices are pretty standard.

My brother in law's childhood friend died last week. Was told the body tested for positive and so a covid funeral need apply.
The family was told yesterday that all crematoriums are booked until February according to the funeral home. They can choose to do a burial which can happen soon or wait.

Just under 19000 was charged for a Covid cremation last week

The service was horrendous

Minutes before the funeral the Daughter was asked to ID the body - I guess because it was a closed casket

She stated that the body was UNTOUCHED from the hospital-her father was partially decomposed-and in the same clothes he was in at Hospital. They said they do not dress C 19 patients
Serviced was rushed, pic didnt make it to the streaming....

^ My cousin next door, his wife's cousin's Covid funeral was on Monday of this week.
They had the glass topped coffin and he said the same thing. The body looked like it was decomposing. Fridge space clearly an issue.

funeral homes dealing with probably double what they usually deal with

and there are lots more deaths because of the covid pandemic and the strain on the hospital

people who need medical care for other issues and cant get it
cant get blood work, medication, doctors visits etc

wonder if theres a way to find out how much total deaths for 6 months from mid 2021 to end of 2021
compared to mid 2019 to end of 2019

Given that death certificates are computer generated this shouldn't be hard to get.

If there's little to no threat to the public health, what is the basis for debarring persons from outdoor cremation of persons who died with Covid-19?

Imaging believing it costs money to die. Ask yourself this what happens when a vagrant dies? how much it costs to dispose of that body?
The state provides a FREE cremation for everyone, if any of my family members die I will let the state deal with it. It costs them nothing in natural gas to burn a body in the crematorium.

What happened before humans evolved to the point where they were intelligent enough to create an imaginary sky fairy with an organized religion of superstitious nonsense. Where they now pay $50K to cremate someone? the dead went as food to the wild life or back to the earth as fertilizer as it should be and how it was always meant to be. Just because people are dumb enough to pay to do something that is free doesn't mean all of us have to. If you're dumb enough to pay for something that is free and alter the way nature intended it to be then go ahead but don't complain.

It boils down to impressing ppl , ppl treat funerals like weddings and other social functions now, you hadda put yourself in debt to prove aye them have money, meanwhile the family of the deceased catching they ass. I could never understand spending 40k or 50k you don't have on a burial or cremation meanwhile men like Abu Bakr who had money to burn ,funeral was 6000 dollars :S
