In a war where it is quite feasible that the total Russian casualties (dead and wounded) is in the 100,000's nothing he does can be considered calculated.
If anything this has been a severe miscalculation on his part as to the resolve of the Ukrainian people and the quantity of high quality western arms that would flood into Ukraine.

In the eyes of a dictator , you don't look at casualties but reaping long term benefits. He believes the Mother Russia will be great again and stop at nothing to see that happen

most every thing were calculated before they struck on, but not every thing is going as smoothly as they would have calcuated, or would have liked. but, to say severe miscalculation? no, thats over reach.
severe miscalcuation is afghanistan, is the war against assad that saw the birth of isis, is any action against NK.
so far, russia has been achieving its objectives, even if at great cost... and these great costs may have been within their margins of error.
i mean, D day and the russian fronts were won by pure attrition. last man standing bizniz. millions of dead. it was still considered win.

D-Day was an amphibious assault followed by a tactical incursion. It was not a war of attrition. The invasion of Germany is the closest that you will find to a WWII European Theater battle of attrition that included the US.
The Battle for the Eastern Front was a battle of attrition. The Battle of Britain was a battle of attrition.
During WWII, of the more than 25 million military deaths:
Japan - 2.1 mn
Germany - 5.5 mn
China - 4 mn
Soviets - over 10.7 mn
US - 0.4 mn
UK - 0.4 mn
The US and the UK fought in, and commanded, both the Pacific and European theaters of war. Japan, Germany, China, and the Soviet Union did not fight outside of their respective theater of war.
Operation Overlord. Study that, then try to talk about it. You seem to lack the fundamental understanding of what is meant by a "battle of attrition."sMASH wrote:adnj wrote:sMASH wrote:hover11 wrote:Dizz,Dizzy28 wrote:hover11 wrote:They playing checkers while he playing chess.... everything he does is calculated

ur forgetting how many lives lost on the beaches to penetrate that front. they had to grind their way in. after they penetrated then it became more strategy based. the strategy on the beach was 'throw enough meat till the guns get clogged'
and it wasnt a 'war' it was a battle. last man standing.

russia is trading with people who dont care about that list. only really western countries are in tandem with US. there are many other countries in teh world.
and all those sanctions, just goes to limit what the western countries intake. they will have to source more expensive suppliers.
they are literally stabbing themselves in hopes that they also stab russia. russia has moved on, wrt trade.
