WARSAW, Oct 1 (Reuters) - Gas started flowing to Poland through the new Baltic Pipe pipeline from Norway via Denmark and the Baltic Sea on Saturday morning, Polish gas pipeline operator Gaz-System said.

The pipeline is at the centre of Poland's strategy to diversify its gas supplies away from Russia that began years before Moscow's February invasion of Ukraine triggered a global energy crisis.

A Gaz-System spokeswoman told Reuters that flows started at 6.10 a.m. (0410 GMT) and nominations, or requests for sending gas through the pipeline on Oct. 1, totalled 62.4 million kilowatt-hours (kwh).

https://www.reuters.com/markets/europe/ ... 022-10-01/

that project prolly was started cause the NS2 might have been projected to take all the gas.

just use this as a model of how long it takes to engineer new sources of gas.

the damages on the ns pipelines most likely is sabotage.

they could have happened due to over pressure, but its unlikely that the failures would happen so close to each other.

so it seems teh failures was due to external causes like impact or bomb. because they were under pressure, a lil defect could be a weak point to fail. u potentially dont have to damage it much for it to fail.

its not russia, cause russia WANTS to sell gas. its not germany, cause germany wanted to keep thier options open cause its still warm.

could be hardliners from any country, who want the gas situation to be permanently cut.
or could be gas suppliers (usa) who want to ensure they dont have competitors.

Ukraine recaptures villages in Kherson as counteroffensive continues

Ukrainian troops recaptured villages along the west bank of the Dnipro River in southern Ukraine on Monday in a major new breakthrough, opening a second big front that is forcing Moscow to abandon ground just days after claiming to annex it.

The advance in Kherson province was Ukraine’s biggest in the south of the country since the war began, and follows similar breakthroughs in the east that have turned the tide of the war in recent weeks.

The Russian-installed head of the administration in occupied parts of Ukraine’s Kherson province confirmed that Ukrainian troops had captured a number of settlements along the river, pushing as far as the vicinity of the village of Dudchany. This would represent a startling advance of around 40 kilometres in a single day.

UKRAINE KEEPS MUM
Kyiv has so far maintained almost complete silence about the situation in Kherson.

In one of the rare images apparently confirming the advance, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s interior ministry, posted a photo of Ukrainian soldiers posing with their flag draping a golden statue of an angel. He said it was the village of Mikhailivka, which would represent an advance of around 20 kilometres.

The advance in the south seems to mirror those in the east, where Ukrainian forces suddenly and swiftly seized territory mainly to gain control of crucial Russian supply lines.

could, for the sake of lively discussion, you expand on this?

i'm not saying you are wrong or anything, but china does not care about ukranian independance or watevs. why wl they join ukraine instead of remaining a strong neutral entity

You're right. China might also remain neutral.
I just don't see them wanting to get into someone else's war unless it benefits them.

Involving themselves in a war will just stymie their plans for east-world domination.

The surprising admission came in a phone call with journalists, during which Dmitry Peskov was peppered with requests to clarify to which Ukrainian territory Putin had laid claim at a pomp-filled Kremlin ceremony last week.

Putin has vowed to protect Russia’s newly claimed territories using “all means at its disposal”, indicating a potential nuclear strike. The lack of a clear red line may undermine his attempts at using nuclear deterrence to halt Ukraine’s successful counteroffensive and western support for Kyiv.

Putin on Friday signed four separate “treaties” with the Kremlin-installed leaders of territories occupied by Russia in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

But Russia does not control parts of those regions and is losing ground to a Ukrainian counteroffensive that retook the city of Lyman in Donetsk region on Saturday in a major embarrassment for the Kremlin.

Remember that pipeline that opened up in Poland?

Poland demands nearly $1.3 trillion in WWII damages from Germany

The formal demand comes despite Germany saying all financial claims linked to the war had been settled.

"We believe that Russia has played with Kaliningrad for too long and it is time to send it one state back again, as has already become the custom in the less than 800 years of its existence. And since the city was founded in honor of the Czech king, it should pass into the hands of the rightful owner—the Czech Republic," the petition reads.

"As Russia showed us in Crimea and is now showing us in the east of Ukraine, it is perfectly fine to step onto the territory of a foreign state, announce a referendum there and then annex the territory. We thus had a unique opportunity to expand the Czech territory and finally gain access to the sea," it continued.

That bridge explosion was Hollywood or game engine demo tier.

Too bad it's tied to reality and a reaction from an unhinged commie leader.

This bridge destruction is turning into a textbook opprotunity in positive conflict propaganda.

that bridge damage is a big L for russia. the loss of territory can be defended as some strategy we dont know. but not that bridge. it might be indicative of some srs problems in the command.
...or some srs nato/us commando operatives taking over the ukraine war offensive.

Some serious Ukrainian Spetsnaz operatives is the best answer.

Russian bear poked the Ukrainian wolf pack.

nah. EU and US trying to phase out fossil fuels, which OPEC would naturally have a problem with

strange happenings in Germany lately. Somebody sabotaged some communications cables and shut down German railroads.

i'm not saying who did it... but maybe this is a not subtle hint to Germany govt for more military aid to Ukraine, or else
