Any microprocessor will work. You need to look at the supported transmission frequencies (bands) and protocols (4G, UMTS, PCS, etc.) that your particular phone offers to determine compatibility.

As long as it supports the carrier frequency and is unlocked it will work. Chipset is irrelevant.

the phone is not accepting the Bmobile SIM card I should buy a Digicel one. but it looks new

The problem is bmobile. My guess is that TSTT LTE 2bar network not up to the proper standards required somewhere, but Digicel does. And the chipset does not seem to have any reported bugs or problems anywhere else.

I also have a Xiaomi M11T and have the same freezing issue with a newly activated Bmobile sim, however when I use a sim that I had some years ago for work this sim works fine.

On another note, I hike regularly with my regular ip68 phone and with proper precautions (a rugged case) I’ve never had an issue.

You can get a Pelican hard case or an Otterbox dry box and carry anything, anywhere.

This is completely functional during a hike.Wet or dry, doesn't matter. My friend has a previous model. He shoots underwater videos normal. The protection is built in and doesn't need a case. Its only weaknesses are prolonged sea water and bmobile sims apparently

Ever tried Lifeproof? Been using them since my iphone5 and they’ve never failed me. Yearly replacement of the case is a must for me due to the nature of work and outdoor activities.

What is IP69K?
The IP69K rating provides protection against ingress of dust and high temperature, high pressure water – making products with this certification ideal for use in conditions where equipment must be carefully sanitized.

In industries such as food processing, where hygiene and cleanliness is paramount, equipment must be able to withstand rigorous high pressure, high temperature wash-down procedures.

In many industries, where dust and dirt can be an issue, it is important to ensure that dust cannot penetrate the casing of a product and cause it to fail.

The IP69K rating is the highest protection available.
In case you wanted to know.

I feel I might bite the bullet and switch networks if I need to

It won't be affected. Digicel gives you a new sim with all their services, you just getting to keep your old bmobile number so you don't have to tell everybody your phone number changed. Make sure the bmobile sim was registered in your name, walk with your ID card and go a Digicel store with your current phone. So in the end you'll be a Digicel customer and use their plans.

I just read that Otterbox now owns Lifeproof. The best fitting, most durable phone cases that I have ever used were by Otterbox.

While these phones all good for most hikes.

I think the OP should also consider a satellite phone. Lots of hiking areas have no cell coverage due to the mountains, get something like a Garmin Inreach instead or alongside your IP68/9 phone. And also pack a battery charger at least 20,000mah

Or check out phones from Bullit

That Garmin looks like something I would definitely buy. While Trinidad hikes might not be brutal,I am planning to do some Amazon forest hikes in South America at some point.A sat phone might be exactly what I need

Those satellite phones feature a monthly subscription service. The airtime expires and you have to renew it online .

Use to do it for some customers. It's an annoying pain to renew the airtime
