Ride share services

Postby redmanjp » December 30th, 2022, 12:42 pm

Anyone ever used TTRideshare? I had to use it yesterday as i had an office luncheon to go to and my car decided not to start just before.

I added my local visa/linx debit card whem I signed up and later noticed a $2 charge came out from it from TTRIDESHARE. It that normal? I ended up not paying by card as the driver didn't have any linx machine so used cash so nothing should have been charged to it from the app.

Check back after a while to see if the charge was refunded. Many companies do a small series of transactions to test that the card entered is valid. That might have been their verification process.

I got a response from them confirming it was a temporary charge which is refunded so will have to check my balance to see.

It was convenient but quite expensive. The app estimated my trip on the cheapest option to be $108. It ended up being about $123 as the rates increased recently and I guess they didn't update the app.

I used it in Tobago. Worked out well. I pre-booked the ride back to Airport and the driver was ontime.

I use ttrideshare often…very reliable and quite affordable. I pay via credit card that I put in the app which is very convenient when you arrive at your destination.

allRiDi is cheaper. http://www.allridi.com

I use it all the time throughout Trinidad. Cash or Card through the app just like Uber in USA etc.

Their support chat in the app is also very friendly with assisting in pre-booking rides.

$123??
Was that a drive from town to Point? I never pay so much when I just hire a regular taxi.

At those kinda rates I think it would be better to rent a car for $150 / day if you have multiple trips.

It was just 1 trip to go to a luncheon I already paid for and didn't want to be too late. Certainly not paying that amount for repeated trips. If time wasn't an issue I would have taken route taxis and paid a fraction of what i paid.

Anyone drives for these ride services. Is it worth it?

After catering for gas, maintenance, insurance, lock neck and robbery

Thinking bout doing it as a sideline

I have a couple friends that do it and according to them, it helps pays the bills. You vehicle has to be in good condition and a certain age no ole ting. All payments to you the driver comes through your account from the company minus their cut and you can get extra “hire” work from the same clients you pick up. That’s as much as I know so I hope it helps

I have a buddy who does it. They have a good structure. Admin supports the Drivers. They have group chats and warning systems. They send out updates regularly. They have payment systems across the island. The Company takes their cut and the driver gets his/her share. They often do promotions (in high demand times) to incentivize drivers to work longer to keep up with demand.
If you have a normal gas car, it may not make sense. Hybrid/Diesel would have the money.
They would fire you if you're found to be sidelining.
In terms of safety, that's a risk throughout the nation. So it's up to the person. However, you can pick and choose your areas and times you are active.
Worth a shot if you want to make some ends

Stop and go traffic with the ac is a real gas killer. Not sure if the rate per km would compensate...
