The other five – Phillip “The Boss” Boodram, Roger Mootoo, Ricky Singh, Kervin Williams and Aaron “Arc Eye” Grappie – were each convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to 28 years in prison. Their appeals are currently before the Court of Appeal, which has reserved its decision.

Rampersad was kidnapped by masked men while standing in front of her home in Petit Bourg, San Juan, on November 25, 2005.

Is this the same Roger?

Yup same guy. Boodram was also killed in a shootout with TTPS back in September.

17 years in remand and now living in Cara courts high rise penthouse. Crime does pay, thanks to the legal system.

No, crime pays because it's well, crime
You seem to have a hard on for the legal system these days, everything ok?

Identified as Kibwe Millette. Definitely not a "good boy" case, he was a genuinely good person.

Thankfully, we retained some of our British sensibilities.

Well said Frank.

With our irresponsible population and our 8th spot in the highest crime rate, too many Trinis with firearms will become a problem.

We need to focus on the TTPS and their ability to control crime.
The ttps cannot control crime without Draconian measures like SOE. Because we cannot put a police on every street, bar, house, football field etc. The enablers have to be destroyed too.. rogue politicians, custom officers, police, defense force, business people etc. Social measures need to be harshly implemented especially in the poor areas where absent parents cause the youth to look at the gangster for leadership. Capital punishment for gun violence, drug dealing and corruption should be considered.
This worked well for Singapore

From the info since gathered, seems it was a failed carjacking - his car keys were found in a neighbouring yard, so the speculation was that the other vehicle rolled up on him, demanded the keys from him, he threw away the keys in response, and they followed up by shooting him as a result. Nothing else was taken from him. Simple as that.

If this is all it takes to murder someone now,
then jail-time is no longer as an adequate deterrence.

True. I identified with this one, because in the moment I might have done the same thing (pelt the keys/fob away).

This has been true for quite a while now. Sometimes you even give them what they ask and they shoot you as a parting gift anyway. Life has no value to these cretins.

It's easy to talk when you are not in the heat of the moment. And no guarantee that giving them will mean your life is spared in turn.

No it's easy to talk when you realize that they rather take what you have, and giving it to them increases your likelihood of walking away with your life. Do some of them still shoot you? Yes, but the majority just want the item.
