Netflix slashes subscription prices in Jamaica, several other nations

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » February 24th, 2023, 5:31 pm

Jamaica appears to be among at least 30 countries to benefit from Netflix Inc’s decision to reduce the prices of its subscription plans, as the streaming giant looks to retain subscriber growth amid stiff competition from rivals.

With the pandemic-fueled boom cooling and consumers turning more cautious about spending, competition in the streaming businesses has heightened, pushing the companies to rethink their strategies.

According to the Wall Street Journal, which reported the Netflix news first earlier today (February 23), the price cuts span across some Middle Eastern countries, sub-Saharan African markets and parts of Latin America and Asia.

hmm... i checked the prices too as if i was signing up -- same rates.

i guess we'll see in the next month. it would be nice if the prices reduced especially when they're cancelling good shows, and removing arrested DeVeLOPMeNT

They seem to be cutting their losses in the traditional markets like USA, Canada and UK which has had a massive subscriber drop, especially since that anti-sharing password business a few weeks ago. Better to consolidate other markets and gain the lion's share while they can... possibly even reach deals with the local cable subscription providers before other executive studio rights grab that market.

But Netflix knows that they're on the decline. It's just a numbers game of new subscribers vs the unsubs to present at the shareholders meeting. Eventually too, those new markets will reach the same conclusion that Netflix sucks and not worth it since 3/4 of everything is removed or discontinued.

Netflix has a lot of good original content though.
The trend is that the studios are moving away from Netflix as an aggregator and doing their own streaming service which is part of the reason for the removals from Netflix

I read that the prices are reflective of market penetration.

I wonder if their crime rates will ease up as a result

Movies/TV shows and other mindless drivel can pacify a population effectively, just need to distribute Soy products now to quell the high testosterone levels in the poor areas

EZ PZ crime strategeezy
