Carnival 2025

Postby redmanjp » January 20th, 2025, 5:35 pm

Didn't see any other thread so I make it. Post Soca tunes, fete schedule, competitions/results, pics, etc.

https://newsday.co.tt/2025/01/06/cocoa-tea-tops-us-itunes-reggae-chart/

"The song has three million plays, including 1.9 million on YouTube over 400,000 on Spotify and almost 500,000 on Apple music. On YouTube, it is still doing over 125,000 plays a day without an official music video. It's number three on Toronto's local pulse Spotify chart and sits at the top of Shazam charts in 20 different places."

Edit: 6.9m views on YouTube

Tusty pics are no longer part of the Carnival thread. Where have you been the last set of years?

Went Soca in the Hills last Saturday in Foothills Arima. Really nice community, party was nice, food inclusive, got to go back several times as food was well stocked and tasty. Had 6 or 7 performances as well. Overall nice party.

Listening to radio never really puts u in the mood with the music tbh until you hit an actual fete.

Not a Machel fan, but that left a lot to be desired.

Man had an engaging time on NPR's Tiny Desk concert; I'll give him that.

So after going Soaka and fully experiencing this song in its element and more , I can safely say this song is road march, for now.

maybe is just me, but I not feeling groovy soca. It ent fitting the mood of the country. For people who things going good and money sure, I could understand the appeal. But for me all them songs this year too happy, too soft. Groovy soca ent giving me the pressure release it suppose to give.

Bunji is like the only man doing power soca this year. If Bunji ent win that roadmarch is mafia scenes. Bunji have at least 2 songs already that going hard.
