would you believe I was thinking about the generator too.. i actually started researching generators to buy! lol.. turns out that Honda and Yamaha are the top brands out there.. the cheaper brands are to unreliable to buy.. briggs and stratton makes the most affordable / reliable of the set.. fyi..

lets discuss this some more.. what exactly would you all like from the night run?
-off roading?
-camping?
-both?
-casual drive to a remote / scenic location?
-food?

lets hear some suggestions.. best we plan ahead with this one..

so is an overnight camp? or just a late-evening into de night kinda run?

The 23rd is a sunday, so it wouldnt make sense to go overnight - have to work the next day. But i dont mind a regular run to carmelita falls, or anywhere else with moderate off-roading.

23rd it is...

The night run is for later in the year, after we properly plan..

Now that we have a date, what time!? lol.. Early morning as usual? say 8-9am?

i'd say 8:30am - since the carmelita falls doesnt really sound much like a long-run. No need to prepare much I guess.

La vega is a nice little drive, and the place itself is a quiet, scenic spot to bring the family.
If anyone hasn't been there, it's basically an estate park where some folks are selling some plants/flowers, and it's got a pond in the back with canoeing and stuff, some gazebo's, benches. It's got some open space where the family can hang out, have picnics, play football, etc.

To get there you take a road off the highway then a small back-road (it's paved, so no worries about off-roading) and there's loads of parking available. The front office is right there and you can buy plants and stuff too (we used to buy orchids and phycus trees there, and poinsettias too, lol).

Haven't been there in years though.
Sounds like a nice relaxing drive to bring the family on.

People although this sounds like a nice easy run. I want everyone to be fully equipped this time. This way we can also see what equipment the B team has and what we need to get...

rally rally rally rally rally!!!!

as long as it's highway tyre friendly, I'm good to go :).

But like RT said - we should bring recovery equipment.
I was in LDG and saw some heavy straps there, rated at 10,000lbs. Might be handy for towing out stuck vehicles.

So wait nah - Diesel Boyz Side B is official now??

:D :D

No!!!

Even the strongest tow straps will burst easily if you tug or jerk them while trying to recover a bogged down vehicle. They can pull up to 10,000lbs, but they can't handle any, err, I can't remember the correct term for it, but they can't handle the high force / jerk caused by tugging..

What you really need is a..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snatch_strap

http://www.amazon.com/ARB-Snatch-Strap-30-24000lbs/dp/B0010E1MGG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1294407765&sr=8-1

http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Comp-330000-Recovery-Strap/dp/B000CN9ZTW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1294407765&sr=8-4

and the Amazon prices are pretty decent.

^^ ohhh ok, I get it.

I guess those are better for strapping down stuff in the tray than pulling heavy loads - less elasticity.

I'll have to invest in a good snatch strap then.
