Hi has anyone went in to N&M to do a steering gear replacement? They say it is free of charge and they are offering it as an upgrade. My vehicle is a 2010 SE 4x2, i'm skeptical however that they want to keep my van overnight.

getting a squealing sound on start up but not consistently that goes away after driving for about 2-3 minutes?besides just the belt needing to be tensioned anyone can think of any other things that could be the cause of this ?

Had a problem like tht and the pulley on the alternator was bad and had to be changed.
At first it made a noise on startup alone until it reached a point where the alternator was no longer charging.

yeah i know that somewhere along the pulleys may be misaligned also that is what i am more concerned about and how long i would need to get that sorted out i will have to see,i'm hoping it is just the belt that needs changing out or tightening for the least

i have the same problem - thought it was just because my belt alwyas getting exposed to dirt and mud.

Also the power steering belt makes a squeal every now and then so I occasionally hit him and the main belt with some belt dressing.

Might have to service my alternator soon.

Just serviced my AC compressor this past weekend, went by a fella in the East. The bearings were making a clicking-noise and I had a feeling the clutch wasn't releasing when the coil was de-energized.... but the AC always blew cold.

Fella charged my $800 for parts, labour and included machine-shop labour too, and also including price to vaccuum & charge up the gas for the AC as well as to replace the cabin filter.
Now the damn thing blows too frigging cold.... esp. with all this rain!

i have repeatedly heard to stay away from belt dressing though, i once had the same sound with a car i had before and eventually the belt burst but if you have been having it going on for so long it probably is straight forward and just the belt.some research i did said that any misaligned pulleys may cause this.i will have to check to make sure my alternator is charging up the battery good also in sorting this out

oh just to update the screeching sound was from the alternator pulley bearing which was replaced and hence things back to normal after it was changed out

guys, I know this is not the for sale forum but with great regret I've placed
my Navara for sale because it's not being used, have a look and see if you
may be interested, also price is negotiable.

Anywhere up north that can reliably change all fluids for my navara also? Do any of them have the fluids and I don't have to buy for the differential and transmission, etc?

biggy82 wrote:Ok peeps, so my 30K service was just done. All fluids (except radiator coolant) that were changed were flushed out with new fluid, hence the volumes quoted are the total for flushing and replacement. Here are the details:

-Engine oil: Amsoil 15W-40 Synthetic . 2 gallons used
-Radiator coolant: Castrol Heavy Duty Coolant and Redline Diesel Water Wetter. 3 liters coolant by 3 oz water wetter used (70-30 ratio instead of 50-50)
-Transfer case and PS fluid: Amsoil ATF Synthetic. 4 quarts used
-Front and rear diff fluid: Amsoil Severe Gear lube 75W-90. 3 quarts used
-Brake fluid: Castrol Heavy Duty brake fluid DOT4. 1 quart used
-Air and fuel filters changed (OEM)
-Inspected both drive belts
-Inspected both timing chains

Was going to change Transmission fluid as well but the firm said that the tranny fluid was as clear as that in the bottles I brought  so no need.

All fluids came up to $2600 (note please that I have 12 quarts of Amsoil Synthetic ATF remaining as I did not change the tranny fluid. ) thanks to GEAR HEAD for all the Amsoil stuff; great powerseller, always goes the extra mile to facilitate his customers’ needs

Service cost was $2036 (inclusive of OEM air, oil and fuel filters).

van wukkin sweet and quiet

Is the battery voltage good? Try another diesel battery to see if it starts well

This is what is written, saw the decals for sale on eBay some months ago if you repainted and want the original look.

Concerning the service oil change , can the hypoid lsd oil be used for the gearbox and front differential? Also, is there a specific grade of the oil for the transfer case?
