Guys I have an issue with my AC unit in a 2010 Hilux 4x4, it occasionally stops working but if I hit a bump or tap below the glove compartment it restarts.

Could that be the blower fan ?? Any suggestions

Thanks

It is the blower... but its best you change it quick because it may result in putting a strain on the compressor. At least that is what happened to mine.

The blower problem would not strain the compressor! Who told you that nonsense? We have replacements in stock.

Hi Guys,

Have another issue as follows:

Took the van to service at a Service Centre in Chase Village. They removed the EGR valve to clean it properly because of excessive carbon buildup. After they were done, they said the valve had a crack and needs to be replaced. It's on the van right now, but the van seems to have gone into a "limp" mode of some sort. I have tried sourcing this valve locally, but to no avail. Toyota advised 2 months for delivery. Right now the vehicle is unusable because of this. Any suggestions as to what I can do about this? I've seen online that some people do an EGR Delete and block off the ports.

Ok So I have some problems with my 2009 Toyota Vigo.
Firstly when crossing about 125 km/hr the van goes in fail safe ( check, trac and VSC light comes on). When switched off it clears and back to normal. Did a scan an a runner solenoid fault came up. Bought a new MAF sensor and all WAS well. That was about a two months ago.
So right now I could more than reach 120 KM/hr and more, but now at very low speeds it goes to fail safe. Especially when at a traffic light or junction and about to pull off. This to me is annoying and very dangerous. I kinda regret getting a VIGO. But please any recommendations or solutions as to what is the problem will be helpful.

THANKS

I dunno if it would be same for you, but I remember a friend here in Tobago who has the new model Hilux had that failsafe issue as his air filter needed replacing (even though it looked good) He bought an aftermarket paper filter and it also gave a failsafe as well. He had to buy the OEM filter before the vehicle ran ok.

Dunno if that might be of any help.

Any specific reason for replacing injectors and water pump at that mileage?

Postby Bezman » October 21st, 2013, 10:03 am

I found I wasnt getting the same diesel milage from the vehicle last month or so, used to get about 600km a tank, and was only getting 450km recently, also because my vehicle was from the batch of hilux's that got the brass washers instead of the aluminum ones from the factory, causing exhaust and carbon to get into the crank case - I wanted to replace those as well, hence the trip to Sookhais, also the van would occasionally smoke a little on startup if i parked with the nose down on a hill, which usually means injectors are leaking a bit.. Sookhais found that my injectors were on their way out hence the bad milage etc, and I asked them to replace everything and calibrated the new injectors. Van is driving like new, quiet, faster, amazing improvement.

The water pump was done along with the 100,000km service because there was a a small leak on the front of the waterpump behind the pulley, i never noticed it, and probably never would have, but with the front cover off and all the belts removed etc, I saw a tiny spot where water was leaking out when the toyota technician showed me, because I myself was skeptical of the van needing one. They said it could have stayed as it was, as it was not leaking allot and the van wasnt overheating or anything, but I prefer preventative maintenance. So it was changed, have the old pump somewhere..

the van is driving like a brand new van, i'm waiting to see how much KM's I get on this first tank of diesel, but i got 150km's and it now starting to cross the "F" so i think things looking good.

It was expensive to say the least, but well worth it in my opinion for the peace of mind that it'll run great for the next 100,000km's. I was thinking of selling the van before all this, but its driving so great now, to fork out $100k out of my pocket after selling this to buy a new van seems like a bad idea now.

just my 2ç

My 3.0 is approaching 100,000kms still get approximately 550km from 1/4 tank, never ran it more than tht. Maybe if i accelerate slowly im sure i can get 600kms from 1/4

I was getting similar too and as I mentioned the mileage suddenly dropped. So that's something to look for.

Coming up to my 40000km...is it beeter to use redline, mobil1 or amsoil type 4 tranny fluid as opppsed to the toyota bottled type 4 fluid. They all rated for type4 but was wondering if anyone used those synthetic tranny fluids before.

Thanks

On one of my invoice they used Castrol ATF (2011)

But unless ur drivin really hard, ur oem tranny fluid should be in good condition still. Did you check it?

@ sweeks... I drive hard...but fluid not discolored etc...wondering if to change it at 40000 km make sense. Was considering 50000km to be honest. Van not used offroad so no high revs...plain highway driving

is the van body lifted by chance??

recently did a body lift on a hilux and had to extend the steering, and now we have discovered a slight vibration, that will be fixed on sunday, but the steering column on the hilux is very flimsy and is dismatled in no time, so see if any screws or nuts has come loose in there and causing that sound...

Fellas first time van owner and need help with 2.5 hilux 4*2 2010 model. A knock on the front left side when going over humps, and on braking etc, like under the front left fender. And also a ticking sound on first start in the morning for a couple minutes. the ticks are from the front of the vehicle and is heard in approximately 20 second delays..
Any ideas would be really appreciated.
