- check your driving habits: accelerate easy, shift early, brake early, no hard starts or stops
- check your tire pressures, 30-32psi for road-tires should be enough
- make sure you're not carrying excess load
- check and tune your engine: change oil, oil filters, air filter, etc
- try to avoid excessive accessories like roof-racks and brush guards, too much aerodynamic interference will reduce fuel efficiency

Hi Player

I've came across a site - Fuel Consumption Guide. Here is a link to the PDF file for fuel consumption on vehicles. You will need to do the maths to find out if your Ford is drinking to much.

The link here

If the link don't work, copy this link and paste it in your browser http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/FEG2001.pdf

I filled up on Sunday, $95 from empty.
So far it's just on the half-tank mark and I'm doing 389Kms.

Just drive easy. I made it a point this week to try to drive easy and shift early to see how far I could stretch the diesel.
Will let you know how far it gets before its on the E.

You have the 2.5 WLT TDi engine?
How fast do you drive normally, and how early do you shift? What tires you running & what tire pressure?

From what I remember, the ranger has a 70 litre tank - most of the trucks here do except the navara which has an 80litre tank.

Dunno why some folks can cross 500kms but others can't cross 400 with their rangers.

What about you tdci owners - what do you guys make?

b2500 - 450+ kms once air and fuel filters and the strainer are clean.
shifting at not more than 2000rpms

more specifically,
1st gear just to pull off, 2nd gear to 20km/h
3rd gear to 40
4th gear to 60
5th from there.
Max on h/way 80km/h

put it this way - chaguanas to shark river (full a/c ) and then back without a/c - burnt 1/4 tank.
