Guys , I am looking for the 2 pin temperature unit on the head of the 4D56 engine. The temp guage on the dash is not working , I took it to an electrician , he touch something under the hood and the guage climb. He said to purchase a genuine one as the substitutes do work at all or do not last. The company is a bit too expensive, can anyone advise where to get one?

Got the Sankei from Kawal Singh in Chaguanas for $65.00, work well for two weeks, now the Sankei is sending the guage right up pass the red, the guage was not working before I installed the Sankei. could this be an electrical problem, how do test the two pin that plus into the unit. I put a test light on it, one pin reads nothing, the other pin give a contant blink when the ignition is on.

put on an original, cost $350.00 at Diamond Motors, working well so far.
The engine is shooting out a little too much black smoke recently, what can I do to eliminate this?

Thats a pretty generic question about the black smoke... COuld be anything really, but my first thought would be to do a tune up on the engine.. ie. change all filters and oil.
If the problem is still happening, you might have a bad air/fuel mix or combustion which would probably mean your injectors want servicing...

Interestingly my 4D56T is 11yrs old now, about 170,000km and its never smoked, so it must be down to maintenance

The oil and filter has been replaced, the engine is in perfect condition no oil consumption,no.leaks etc. works well after a 1 minute warm up in the morning. Ocassionally shoots out black smoke through out the day. On cold start in the morning only, the engine behaves as though it is working on cylinders only. this happens for about a minute with extensive black smoke, two revs and this is gone. could this be injectors?

That actually sounds to me like its time to change your glow plugs....
Do you use the preheat function (turn ignition to on, wait until the orange engine heating light goes out, then start)
If so, try the preheat function about 3 or 4 times before starting.. It might help with the black smoke on startup, but odds are you have to change those glow plugs anyway..

NGK is the best one available but its hard to find it sometimes as lange used to bring it in but with no real consistency.. There is another brand on the market called Kitahara, but it doesnt last half as long as the NGK....
