hey tuners , just wanna get some info on my frontier, the van is an 04 model , doing approx 256xxx and well after time , to me the front of the van looks lower than when i first got it, so i was thinking if this is a normal thing with these vans? or if my torsions need to be cranked ? ill take some pictures tomorrow of the van so you guys might have a better idea ,

what truck was it that you drive again? I forgot...

Did you ever have your suspension checked out? And not by some home-garage or self-taught mechanic... i mean someone who is properly qualified and familar with trucks & pickup suspension. Any parts ever replaced?

Check the shocks, bushings and your torsion bars.

give this guy a call - 3749339, ask for Mr James Moseley. He'll give that frontier a thorough look-over... including checks that other guys locally are oft to miss.

He's located in charlieville, right next to Sookhai's Diesel.
Ur in st augustine, so basically head towards price plaza, cross the flyover to medford, come back onto the northbound highway, then turn left off the highway there by TracMac. Then take the next right onto Biljah Road Extension... drive past the Sookhai's Diesel Bosch servicing center, and it's the green & blue warehouse after sookhais.

Mr Moseley's place is on the right-hand side of the warehouse.

Trust me, he'll fix ya up in better ways that you can ever imagine!
(you'll see from the kind of trucks that roll into that shop and roll out too).

Nah not unless something there is outta whack. Its not hard to crank the torsions, just use a 19 or 21 deep socket and ur good.

there is guy in Sangre Grande who is experienced, skilled and has equipment that i've known for a while now. i usually go there for alignment camber checks, he's quite verse with suspension systems.
I am going to get mine cranked a bit @ next check up, ive seen him done few.

to relieve stress on the bolts while you tighten them......... jack up the vehicle a bit
you might wanna have your camber checked after.

well today i asked a the mechanic in the work if they did any repairs to the truck , he said they changed out the torsion bars and didn't raise it back , just on an average cost. how much would a suspension check and lifting torsion cost me?

go by milage mack.. it shouldnt be more than $200 or summin..if u want stock height raise the torsion bars untill there is equal gap between the upper bumpstop and control arm and lower bumpstops and control arm. dont over tighten because it will ride like shiet.

just be careful when going over humps and into potholes, since the torsion bars are tightened you'll probably feel it a lot more now.

how many revolutions did you tighten the bolts to get....say.....1 inch of lift?

hmm not sure exactly i used a tape and did various measurements on both sides before and after thats how i got the measurements , because it was me and my bro so while i was cranking he was checking with a tape the distance raised , im not sure if thats a way you can crank them , but the ground was leveled and all the tires had the exact pressure , after cranking them total raised was almost 2 inches , and the van up till this day rides normal ,

so all u need to do is tighten the bolt to raise it? leave the van flat on the ground or jack up the front

you can jack it up to relief pressure on the bolt in my case i didnt have to and it was easier for me, just make sure both your sides are measured very accurately and get the tires alligned after youre finish.

Next, take measurments using the hub as the centerline to the top of your fenderwell. This will be your reference point.

Now, get under the truck and locate the torsion bar. It's a long rod that starts behind your lower control arm and goes back to a crossmember under the cab of the truck. At the back end is your adjustor bolts which are on a lever type anchor at the end of the torsion bar....this is what you can adjust.

That big bolt goes all the way through the crossmember and has 2 nuts on the end...one is a jamb nut. Use a 19mm wrench to loosen that jamb nut first.

Then, put the wrench on the second nut, and use a breaker bar with a 19mm socket on the bolt itself (on the bottom side). Rotating the blot clockwise is cranking up the torsion bar. To get an inch, it could take anywhere from 3 to 6 full turns. It'll turn hard, hence the need for the breaker bar. Make sure the nut on top isn't just spinning.

Repeat the procedure on the other side.

Now that you've made adjustements, get in the truck and drive it a few feet (back up and pull back forward). Now take your measurments at the fender well again and check where you are in relation to that bumpstop.

Make further adjustments as necessary and repeat the procedure.

Be sure to tighten down that jamb nut when you're done.

Finally, you'll want to visit the alignment shop afterward because you've altered the toe in setting and probably the camber setting as well. You can reset toe with a buddy and a tape measure if you have to (let me know if you want to do this - it's pretty easy) but that camber setting is best done at a shop with the right equipment.

If you run out of adjustment before you get to your desired ride height (in other words, you run out of thread on the adjuster bolt), you'll need to reindex the Tbar.

finally re-discovered this procedure.......
