Bad diesel...BEWARE!!!!!!!

Hey guys, be careful, my van shut down on the Lady Young yesterday! I managed to get it back started and when other mechanic checked it out, he told me it was some bad diesel! He drained out some in a soft drink bottle and sure enough, it had plenty sediments in it. I think I should start using Unipet double filtered diesel?has anyone experienced this before?

Ok, where did you last fill?
When last was your fuel filter changed?

Had this happen to me twice, mazda BT-50 WL.
Took down the fuel tank flushed it with clean fresh diesel. Let it dry completely mounted it back and filled with clean diesel. manually pumped and drained the OLD filter multiple times until the diesel came out "clean" changed the old filter for a new one, cleaned the micro filter by the tb/ just before the injectors. Drove straight to a trusted station filled and ran the highway. 100% back to normal.
I stick to a few stations for this reason. NP duncan village, NP Mon repos, Unipet point a Pierre rd, Unipet brentwood, NP tragrete road, NP Beetham, etc etc etc.. these stations i have personally never had bad experiences.
NP on the cross I got water and particles of metal, and a few other stations that I will not bother listing.

My padnas told me to only fill up either by a Unipet cuz of their double filtering and where police does fill up. E.g. Beetham NP. I changed the fuel filter TWICE and still, the same thing! My mechanic said he'll do a flush out for me, just let the tank run down.....wouldn't that cause the pump to pick up sediments in the tank?

I wouldn't consider that the best idea... but if you don't have containers to hold all the diesel in your tank... It might be your only option
Btw..I fill up at one of the NP stations listed above; I probably get like 2 ml of water/sediment after about $400 worth of diesel

Are there any "safe" gas stations along the east/west corridor?

edward street np(i believe), 4 roads np, had a bad experiences with peakes, also maritime np.
I normally have a full tank when leaving south so no real need to risk bad fuel.

What about the new one by Piarco? I does see those police vans filling up there and any reviews on the one just outside Arima next to the hardware in the Eastern main road?

Filled up a few times at Piarco, no complaints.
Never filled further east than there, Manzanilla should be good as i've had people fill up there with no issues, i personally have had no reason to fill there but just in case....

Think I have this problem. Shut down today and now it starts easy but can't hold idle for more than ten seconds without stalling. Diesel from Medford

Damn! I sorry to hear dat! Do a system flush and change your fuel filter. I can recommend an excellent mechanic if you need to . He from Barataria.

I was thinking location of the station might play a role in water getting into system, maybe
try and fill only at stations on a hill?
I notice (gosh the one next to pricesmart chaguanas, can't remember the name right now)having
allot of water in driveway when it rains, but i mostly fill there without issue.

Isn't that the Medford gas station? Just a couple of posts ago I thought someone got water in their tank from that station?

That's it!.
I fill there mostly,(2012 ranger)i replace diesel filter after 10,000,never noticed any water or sludge and i have never used any fuel treatment.Van feels fine, but a slow decrease in power over time is hard to pick up on.
I want to clean my intake(van doing 30,000km),might be dirty from egr,Any advise(sorry for post misdirect)

Glad to know it was just that and nothing really bad! I was told we should fill up diesel from stations that police frequent! Sounds dumb, but it makes sense. The one on the Beetham always have police filling up and so too is the one by Maritime roundabout. I think I'll visit the Unipet stations bcuz of their double filter pumps.

When maritime roundabout and the gas station used to flood. ... where do you think some of the water ended up

What is the reasoning behind filling up where police fills up?

I would like to know as well... police fill up at Np because they have no other choice.

Questions
What mileage is the van currently doing and how often was the fuel filter replaced.
I am currently monitoring the contaminants that the sedimenter is collecting and after 4000kms. ..I probably have about a third of what you have there.
Now the contaminants in the bottle I have collected takes about 2 days to settle out if I shake it...makes me wonder what happens when they are replinishing fuel in the storage tanks.

Milage abt 68000km, maintained by toyota last service was mid November will have to check what the service entailed if filters was replaced!

One of the things to remember is never fill up right after the gas stations have been replenished by the supply trucks because that causes a lot of contaminants that have settled to be disturbed and go into the entire contents of the supply tanks

since this guy has proof of bad fuel, does anyone know if he has any recourse against the station?
