Well it's confirmed, you are no longer able to complete same day transfers, as all requests have to go down to tetron before they are approved. I was informed that the purchaser will have to return on Thursday to pay transfer fees.

Are these calculated on year of "manufacture" or "registration"?? I had mixed experiences in the past.

when you go back to pay transfer do you have to wait for them to call the car number or you simply head to the cashier?

About PRESENT transfering fees

Postby Sinester » February 5th, 2010, 9:03 pm

uttamj,
Hey i have a question. when transfering a RORO vehicle, the transfer fee will be the age of the vehicle or how long the owner purchased the vehicle?
I mean, if the person has it more than two years, will he fall in that 2 year bracket or not.
The car is a 2003 model. A little over 7 years.what will be the PRESENT fee for it man?

The vehicle's age for transfer purposes is determined by its registration date. So if its a 2003 model but was registered in 2008, then the transfer fee will be for a 2 year old vehicle.

This is the how they doing it now. (temporarily we hope)
All transactions have to be sent to Chaguaramas to be verified, as all the documents are now lodged there for the conversion to a computerised system.

Vehicle Transfer Tax as of October 2009

Postby trinijanus » March 17th, 2010, 7:52 pm

Hi Folks,

I just realized that this sticky thread has old information regarding Vehicle Transfer Taxes. Please note the following, as taken from the 2009/2010 budget.

Used motor vehicles (other than motorcycles) over ten years old = $150.00
Used motor vehicles over seven years old, but not more than ten years old = $1350.00
Used motor vehicles over five years old but not more than seven years old = $3000.00
Used motor vehicle over two years old but not more than five years old = $4500.00
Used motorcycles not exceeding 250cc = $150.00
Used motorcycles exceeding 250cc = $300.00

My bad...just didn't scroll through the entire thread. Is there any way that the mods can keep just the current rates at the top of the thread?

The age of the vehicle is based on registration or manufacturing ?

Age of the vehicle is based on manufacture. The transfer tax is based on registration.

Transfer fees have gone up, a lot!

2 years or newer is now $6,000.00

They are killing used car sales, so watch out when selling, and make sure that your price is in line with the new fees.

since you going through the bank you may need to show the certified copy and the first owner may need to transfer the car on the sellers name or yur name

certified copies takes a long time but if u know someone inside your can get it in 24 hrs ...talk to those driving instructors they have links,

but you will need to transfer the car on your name and carry the chit of paper (receipt) from licensing office to the bank in order for them to pay the man the money for the vehicle.
