I would like to transfer my vehicle which is on my name onto my company's name. How do I go about doing this? Do the same transfer fees apply? It was imported and registered as PDK, do I have to wait three years or will an exception be made since it will be for a company?

So this is still valid aka 4500 to transfer a 4 yrs old car ?

GTi Guy wrote:CHANGING OWNERSHIP OF A MOTOR VEHICLE IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

How to transfer your car in T&T.
You must register with the Trinidad & Tobago Transport Division any time you wish to buy, sell or change ownership of a motor vehicle. The registered owner and the new owner together must apply for a change of ownership within seven days of the sale or transfer. You must be at least 17 years old to change ownership of a vehicle.

Changing ownership of a motor vehicle and vehicle safety inspection can only be done at the Port of Spain, San Fernando and Tobago offices.

How do I change ownership?
The registered owner and the new owner must complete the transfer together and submit the following documents to the Transport Division office.

    • Complete Change of Ownership Form No. 11
    • Vehicle registration certificate and valid insurance certificate.
    • Valid national ID card or passport for both the registered and new owner.
    • Receipt of sale (where applicable).
    • Prescribed transfer tax and fee.
The application is processed on the same day.

How much does it cost?
The transfer fee is TT$10.00. The transfer taxes vary according to the (license) age of the vehicle:

New Transfer Taxes (as of October 1 2009):
Cars
$6000.00 - Under 2 years
$4500.00 - Over 2 years but not over 5 years
$3000.00 - Over 5 years but not over 7 years
$1350.00 - Over 7 years but not over 10 years
$0150.00 - Over 10 years

Procedure:
    • Complete the Transfer Form which is obtained at the information counter
    • Take the vehicle to the Inspection Shed
    • Return to the main office until called to the transfer counter
    • Pay at cashier (usually closes at 3:00 pm)
    • Done

Note:
    • Both parties must be present at the counter
    • Both parties must each have two (2) forms of identification
    • A Receipt with the new owner's name must be presented
    • Insurance in the name of the buyer must be presented (cover note will suffice)
    • Transfer must be effected within seven days of Sales Receipt

Licensing Offices in T&T where transfers can be done:
    Wrightson Road, Port of Spain
    By-Pass, San Fernando
    Milford Road, Tobago

Taxes are applied to date of 1st registration in Trinidad & Tobago (license plate series), not year of manufacture.

Just a quick question here...if the vehicle in question plate is a "PAK"...will this pose a problem to transfer ownership?

Just go early...get in the inspection line for around 7:45am
You will get thru in the 1st batch for sure and be out of there by 10:00am

After lunch inside there is a waste.
All the workers leave for "lunch" and only 25% come back to work.

Is there any possibility that I could get a certified copy by Friday?
Do you all know anyone who could assist?

If its for transfer inspection, they just check for the chassis number to match that on the certified copy and transfer form.

If its for H/T inspection, they check for chassis#, engine #, brakes, handbrakes, indicators, wipers, horn and on a bad day they will even check your suspension.

Well to make things easy...just dont mention the engine change .
Apply for the engine change after inspection or let the new owner do it.

Procedure for obtaining duplicate Drivers permit

Postby blackstreet007 » April 28th, 2017, 1:14 pm

Step 1: Make a report of the loss or theft at the nearest police station and obtain a "Lost Documents" form from the Police Officer taking your report. Ensure that he stamps and signs it.
Step 2: Go to the nearest licencing office and obtain a duplicate Drivers permit application form (same form used when renewing D.P)
Step 3: Take the form and Police report to a Commissioner of Affidavit or Justice of the Peace to get it signed and stamped (Comm of affidavits charge $30.00)
Step 4: Take both documents back to Licencing Office. It will be helpful if you remember the month of your last D.P renewal and which office it was renewed at)
Step 5: Pay $70 for first time duplicate and $300 for any subsequent loss
Step 6: Wait till your name is called to have your photo taken (No sleeveless or vests) and collect your duplicate D.P. If your last D.P was stored on the computer database you would not be required to take a new photo.
