Grade one means soft road/trail, mostly smooth driving.

Grade 2 means dirt road/trail with muddy/slippery conditions, some ruts. Little rock of damage to vehicle / personal injuries. Suitable for stock vehicles, novice drivers and navigators. No major vehicle modifications necessary beyond tire upgrade / suspension.

Grade 3 means trails with rocks / deep ruts, water crossings, off camber obstacles. Moderate risk of vehicle damage. Modified vehicles only (lift kit, winch, mud terrain tires, experienced drivers and navigator)

Grade 4 means heavy obstacles to cross, experienced drivers and navigators only. Heavy vehicle modification necessary. High danger to unmodified vehicles. High risk of personal injury to inexperienced operators.

Guys, what are your recommendations it terms of preparation for the beginner driver to the group? I know there's a thread on preparation, but what are the bare essentials other than what Lighthammer had outlined? Vehicle is stock with some A/T's btw!

Stay close by to the thread I will let LH add aid necessary!

Basically, make sure u are prepared for a full day, if u can't make the entire day and need to call it short, please let us kno u are leaving the convoy!

Walk with food and drinks (non alco) and maybe a change of clothes, these days rains are unpredictable, meds if u need.

Please try to wear long pants and boots or shoes, for both you and the occupants of your vehicle, we keep asking for no bare foot bogging, but the mangrove does come out in some ppl when they see mud, they helpless, hahahha!

As for the vehicle wise, make sure it's in good order, check your vitals, fuel up, check your tire pressure and spare tire too, most important, full the wiper fluid!

Tru to have tow points to the front and rear of your vehicle and at least have a tow rated strap for your vehicle, or if not, a 50ft of 5/8" rope will do you good, a pair of shackles will also be handy and aid in recovery.

LH will add as we go along if needed!

Looking like a good sized crew!

This should be a pickup-friendly run, as the terrain isn't too hard. We like to cater to all levels of experience from complete novice to grade-10+ drivers; all are welcome.

Once you've got decent tires and are prepared to have some fun in the mud.... You're ready to go!

In terms of safety, Droppa explained things pretty clearly above, but if anyone has any further doubts or questions, feel free to ask on this forum or via private message.

So tell your friends, uncle, pardna with a van, to come and experience some offroad fun and see what your 4x4 can do and what it was actually built for!

I am considering it. can anyone post or link some pics of what a grade 2 looks like?

or what a vehicle looks like after a grade 2 run?

what time is start and what time is completion? if one leaves early does one stand the risk of being stuck on the way back out?
I want to come but need those questions answered

van is a b2500 ironman suspension which I assume from the catalogue gives it a 50mm lift.
firestone destination tires
ironman bumper and side rails
custom rear bumper

does that suffice?

Should more that be able to make the run with those tires alone. Come through you sure to enjoy it...
About leaving early Side-B leaves no one behind and we tend to move as a group, the run is more of a one way through... so we enter and exit different...
PM droppa or Leo if you need any further info..
