Progress at the track today including surface preparation, laying of the first layer of track bite, installing posts, fencing, barriers and clean up.

Sparky said they will start dragging rubber tyres on the track area of the circuit where trackbite cannot be applied (about half track) on Wednesday.

More details to come.

Duane is an area being left for street radials?

Yes, this is being catered for.

There are 25 grid positions painted on the circuit start line, the quarter mile finishes just after the slip road to the right, and before the 25th grid position.

Drag Racing cars slowing down from this point do have another quarter mile before the turn, and would be backing off loooong before the Group 4 Circuit cars that reach up to the 300' marker before braking.

I guess the point of watching racing through a fence is not an attraction was missed . What would have been different of the Fence was just 5-6 feet high instead of the 8 to 9 ft we see here ?

We have all viewed drag racing abroad , but have yet to see this type of fencing NASCAR yes , NHRA no , Past Time no , Pinks no , Pink all out no . The public can see these cars unobstructed and often greet the drivers as they taxi on the return lane . The public is already behind a non secured concrete barrier that is maybe 10-12 feet from the racing lanes . Safety is a concern but so is the experience of the Public .

That said the surface prep looks good , it would be interesting to see the times here versus those done in Camden and else where . Hope this surface does not break up and after a few events gets better.

safety is supposed to be the #1 priority.
anything else should have to come after.

there are too many examples of persons believing they are somehow not bound by rules, so everyone has to face the pen (fence) until that mindset is completely extinct.

Please also point out the ahole trinis who wanna stand up right at the edge of the track.

Wow, just had flashbacks of people sitting on top the pit wall at wallerfield, running onto the track as the cars passed and other crazyness that used to go on all the time.

Some of those do actually have fences too, the stands are just built higher than the fence.

that will not be able to happen with the new layout, once managed properly.

Ah we have a winner , but how many persons have to view the racing through the fence or is there seating that allows them an unobstructed view?

Unconnected concrete barriers and chain link fencing no matter how tall , yeah we safe :?

Anyway good luck to all racers , event managers and please put on a good show , through the fence.

Successive posters missed this question

What would have been different if the Fence was just 5-6 feet high instead of the 8 to 9 ft we see here ?

Duane where is spectator parking?

This is being worked out once certain areas are cleaned up. Most likely using first entrance as you make the 90 degree left on Cumuto Main Rd., and easy access to spectator areas to the North of the track.

And also to the East where VIP was, but not inline with the track, a lil walk down to the start area!

This surface seems to be the best we have had available to us since I have been viewing or involved in drag racing more than 2 decades ago.

1. Waller west bound southern track ie Good Father accident , concrete mostly raw/
2. Wallers east bound AUTOSPORT southern track double trouble , illegal toy lambada days , traffic light start light /
3. Wallers east bound . AUTOSPORT , Sunday School etc etc . Sheik went up on one side . very good track prep , many good times back them

4. Camden poor surface , lots of restorative work needed TTUNDRA , eventually the track has some bumps and more racers wanted a specific side ie the left lane .

5. The return to Wallers , AUTOSPORT proper paved surface and hopefully great track prep .

May we see some exciting et times and hope for good weather.

Mr. Cornfused #3 - North Track from Aug. 1995, Scoreboards in 1996 until 2004 or 2005, then the South track.
Let's all just try to get this going safely in the first instance before we get to setting records.

Hey Duane please advise who is ever in charge not to put tents on track. Some serious holes were on the flat surface when we removed the tents that were left there from the last event drag that was held there.
