Re: DRAG RACING AT WALLERFIELD - New layout with trackbite

Postby stikid09 » October 1st, 2015, 10:56 am

here's a few points from the briefing.

1. Saturday: Scrutineering 10am-12pm followed by testing 1pm-5:30pm.

2. The brackets allowed are 10-15s but depending on the way things run faster brackets may be allowed on Sunday.

3. This event follows rules based on the NHRA Sportsman class.
-2 loss knock out system (maybe even 1 depending on the time frame).
-Competition Log Book implemented: essentially a notepad for you to keep personal notes of your passes.
-Cars under 11s require a 3inch width 5 point harness and roll bar.

4. Each bracket would have a Bracket Marshall- please co ordinate with them.

5. Competition number and class must be written on both sides of the car and the back. (I presume the scrutineer would do this)

6. It would be nice if competitors could have their name and blood type on both sides of their helmet.

7. Cars can be left on the track overnight as their would be lighting system and security.

8. It is encouraged that you walk with your own garbage bag and keep your area clean.

9. Each competitor is encouraged to have a sign (piece of paper) stuck on their tent with their competition number and bracket printed on it to make the Bracket Marshall's life easier.

10. Random breathalyzer tests will be implemented for all yuh Raj and Rajplatoonks who cyah control all yuh mc.

What's the problem with street tyres on trackbite? Is it that slippery?

The Track Bite that has been put down at the start on the extreme left and right side is minimal.

More will be put down on the inner left and right to facilitate those cars on slicks.

So there will be minimal effect to those cars on radials or those that do not use slicks.

At this time the intention is to gradually treat the surface to build for future use.

Also have to announce that both Ryan Garcia with his SKF Lancer and the Boost Factory Team will be coming out to test and advise on what is required for future events.

But at the breifing they said that there will be space in each lane large enough witout trackbite for cars on radials . They also said they dont want cars on radials running on d trackbite. Can someone clarify this for me pls.

You are correct. This was an oversight by those putting down the track bite.

But it is minimal, looks more than it really is and in short order, with the street cars running on the outer ends, this will be scrubbed off.

I'm guessing on the circuit track is rubber only and not track bite?

Correct.

Fastest being the SKF lancer.

to the organisers: not enough seating facilities for spectators. I spoke to an old man in a blue t shirt at the car park 'who in charge' about the lack of seating, his response was: 'if yuh doh like it, go take back yuh money and leave den'. Also proceeded to ask me if camden had seating.

 all I could do now is laugh.
organisers and persons in charge, please advise staff to be curteous to members of the public as it is the latter who have a lot to do with making the event an overall success.

This response is indeed unfortunate and we do apologize on behalf of all who were involved and really worked hard to have this first Event at this "new" location. And we do admit that there are several areas to be improved upon. And give the assurance that there will be much more seating at the next event. Much greater emphasis on punctuality by competitors and reading the riot act on those who do not comply.... All must be scrutineered and Class confirmed on the Saturday.

This will make a world of a difference.
