The AutoSport Competition Team undertook an analysis of what we experienced at the first T&T PMS Ltd. Drag Event, and based on the issues raised, plan to make certain changes, as we all want to be better and have to be more efficient next time around…
First…. Competition Numbers have been assigned at this first event. We shall be using those same numbers as we go forward, can confirm this at briefing meeting. So for those who will be consistent competitors at future events, we urge you to have permanent numbers on the sides and on the back glass of your car…. bikes on the side.
Scrutineering checklist will be posted again before next event.
SCRUTINEERING:
(1) DO NOT EVEN GO TO THE SCRUTINEERS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A COMPETITION NUMBER ON YOUR CAR.
(2) AND YOUR ENTRY FORM MUST HAVE…..BLOOD TYPE, DATE OF BIRTH, NEXT OF KIN WITH CONTACT 1 & 2.
(3) ENTRY FORMS WIL BE USED TO BUILD A FULL LISTING WITH ALL INFO. FOR ORGANIZSERS TO HAVE ON HAND IN THE INSTANCE AN INCIDENT ARISES THAT WILL REQUIRE AMBULANCE TAKING ANYONE TO HOSPITAL, AND/OR HAVING TO CALL YOUR NAMED CONTACT ON YOUR ENTRY FORM IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
(4) HELMETS, MUST NOT BE OLD/DATED, BUT HAVE SAFETY STANDARDS OR RATINGS AS INDICATED ON OUR SCRUTINEERING FORMS/CHECKLIST.
Late arrivals, you will miss some runs with what we plan for the future.
Problems caused by late entries… this slowed down our ability to get runs going more smoothly.
It must be noted that with this first set of track preparation, we were able to see some good times.
Supporting crew…. Some were moving so freely in the starting area – this must stop. One “photographer, car manager, chief mechanic” seemed to be connected to nearly every car and roamed freely… this will not be allowed in the future.
This next event on 31st Oct. / 1st Nov. We have to all work together to make this better than the first Event, even though it is a Test & Tune, no competition, ideal time to put new strategies in place.
But we will be implementing a new style for competition in the future. The biggest benefit for all competitors is the assurance of more runs…once YOU are on time for all sessions! If you are not YOU miss your runs.
So the biggest challenge in Drags….. we all look forward to competitors really running to their best ability…. but what we all suspect, in a few cases the opposite happens.... and the phenomenon of sandbagging can easily be seen!
We will run in sessions. First, Session 1, a practice session, so everyone can get a feel of their car/bike, and the conditions of the track on the Saturday.
Then there will be the Session 2, again on Saturday, where you run to determine your Bracket. At the end of the day, competitors indicate what Bracket they are going to run in. We prepare our documents to reflect this.
So we start Session 3 ON SUNDAY MORNING where competitors are now in their respective Brackets, which they have indicated, and you are allowed not less than two runs, maybe even 4 runs.
You missed Saturday….. well YOU missed so many runs. Sunday morning pick your Bracket and fall into line!
We cannot allow “the few” to feel that they have certain “rights” over the majority, simple discipline.
At the end of Session 3, we then select the fastest 8 or 4, depending on the number of competitors in the Bracket to move on to Session 4. Note that to be in the top 8 or top 4 you must run at your best…and these go forward to a knockout format to end up with third and fourth, then the best two finalists.
Depending on time, the two finalists may run one knockout run, or two best in three.
Once finals in all Brackets are completed, we then can move on to grudge runs….but again here, open to only Competitors who participated in the Event.
Seems to have some serious structure in place? This is the only way to improve, build, and develop a smooth operation.
