Briefing meeting 12th January 2016
Trinidad and Tobago Performance Motorsport Co. International Drag Racing Event carded for 17th January 2016
Safety will be of utmost importance and we really do not wish to be having to force this issue. Our Scrutineers shall be very strict and any challenges they face, their instructions are to politely ask the competitor to move aside while the concerns raised will be taken up with the Event Officials. Funny the challenges we faced at previous events were not related to defects in the cars/bikes, but had to do with the manner some competitors were trying to breach the systems we have put in place. Simply put….. EVERY Competitor must have fully completed and submitted an entry form, and only then should they approach the Scrutineers.
On Race day, the scrutineers will have the entry forms, and the competitor is expected to pass all of the safety checks listed on the scrutineering form, before the OK sticker is affixed to the Car/bike.
We expect that we shall be starting scrutineering from Noon on Saturday. ONLY when cars and bikes are scrutineered and have the OK stickers prominently displayed on the windscreen, AND Competition Numbers clearly displayed, will said competitors be allowed to proceed to the racing area.
ENTRY FORMS HAVE BEEN USED TO BUILD A FULL LISTING WITH ALL INFO. FOR THE ORGANIZERS TO HAVE ON HAND IN THE INSTANCE AN INCIDENT ARISES THAT WILL REQUIRE AMBULANCE TAKING ANYONE TO HOSPITAL.
HELMETS, MUST NOT BE OLD/DATED, BUT HAVE SAFETY STANDARDS OR RATINGS AS INDICATED ON OUR SCRUTINEERING FORMS/CHECKLIST.
AND ALSO MUST HAVE DRIVER’S BLOOD TYPE CLEARLY DISPLAYED.
Competition will be running in Sessions.
At the last Event we implemented a new style of runs, which saw a smooth execution of competition. The biggest benefit for all competitors is the assurance of more runs…once YOU are on time for all sessions!
If you are not…. THEN YOU MISS YOUR RUNS, and no you cannot claim runs in Session 2 that you lost in Session 1, and this remains constant even for the later Sessions.
NO competitor will receive special treatment to accommodate his or her late arrival for racing.
Of interest was the comment that ”I won the runs I made but did not qualify for the finals??? Simply put all runs prior to Session 3, are simply runs to register your best time, and not a race against the competitor in the next lane.
We will run in Sessions. First, Session 1, a practice session, ON SATURDAY, so everyone can get a feel of their car/bike, and the conditions of the track.
Then there will be the Session 2, where you run to determine your Class. At the end of this session, competitors indicate what Class they are going to run in. We already have this info. for most from recent events, so we have a good idea of who is in which Class, but we know you can improve and move up based on your most recent tuning and updates, and there are some now coming out for the first time since Waller Field was reopened.
So we start Session 3, where competitors are now in their respective classes, which they would have signed for, and you are allowed not less than two runs. Competitor’s times shall determine lane-choice as they move forward to Session 3.
Then depending on the number of Competitors in the Bracket, we select the top 4 or the top 8 for SESSION 4 - the finals, a knockout session.
If you miss Saturday, that will be your choice and you deal with what you face on Sunday.
Please note that safety will be a major focus in the staging of this Event. Competitors must ensure that they satisfy standards set out on the scrutineering form, especially as this relates to Roll Cages in the faster Brackets.
Also when the Competitor confirms a Bracket, the competitor must register at least one run within the Bracket time.
Should we, at any point, not have time to complete the competition runs to determine winners, we shall use the best times recorded in the previous session, to determine Bracket winners.
