AutoSport Racing’s Drag & Wind(ing) Event #9

Postby AutoSport » October 15th, 2012, 6:42 pm

D&W Event #9 Sunday 21st October at ARC.

Briefing meeting Wednesday 17th at MOSPORTT, Frederick Settlement from 7:00pm.

It’s October 2012 and AutoSport Racing Association has proven its resilience with the successful staging of eight Drag and Wind(ing) Events for the year.

And with two more Events to go to complete its commitment to hosting a full Championship series, the ARA Team can stand proud as they have kept a host of Motor Sport Competitors from all disciplines thoroughly happy, keenly battling for points to determine End-of-Year Champions.

A major part of this success is attributed to dialoging with the competitors to have a more equitable classification in this unique Event, and at the same time not getting in to minute analysis of performance enhancing upgrades.

These Events also exposed the fact that pure power or money spent on performance enhancements will not make you a winner. But combining driver talent with a properly tuned car, and bringing both into harmony are the factors that will create that winning recipe.

Leaders in the respective Classes to date are:
Class 1A Ruddy Beekee in his Honda Civic, winning every single event that he has participated in to date.
Class 1B sees Stephen Hosein in his Sir Honda Civic well ahead of his closest rival.
Class 2A is now turning into a see saw battle between Daryl Ali and David Lyons with the latter now moving 60 points ahead after the last Event.
Class 2B sees Kirk Ho Hing, the only competitor who enjoys full sponsorship of a new VW Twin-Charged Jetta courtesy Best Motors, justifying this support with a points lead that already confirms him outright Class winner.
Class 3A, Devi Nath with his locally converted 1500 Turbo Suzuki is leading his closest competitor by 270 points.
Class 3B sees the consistent Devon Bartholomew quite comfortable winner at this stage with a 210 points lead over his closest rival.
Class 4A has been dominated by Clive Sugden, a driver with Circuit Racing experience leading back to the 80’s. He also won many Fastest-Time-Of-The-Day-Awards.
But in 4B, Alistair Rahamut has a fight from Khayam Ali who is just 100 points behind.

Let no one forget that points will be tallied from ONLY eight of the ten events – competitors will drop points from their two worst events.

Yes, i have been lucky in 4A, the competition keeps changing, hired guns coming in to try and mash up my points, even one Honda man want to come up with the full race Honda (without cage, light like paper) to try and stop me from taking the overall Chanpionship, what he forgetting is, when they drop his two worst results, that would be two first place points, I dont think he has run all eight races (subject to correction) , when they drop my two worst, it would be third place or even fourth. But say what, this is the best chance they have, made some change since before last meeting and still have not sorted out some issues. But as they say, no excuses once you line up. BS stops when the lights hit Green.

As stated from Event #1, at the End of the 10 events, the competitor drops the two worst set of points and the top eight totalled, to determine winners in each of the eight Classes contested.

Information received at last nights meeting stated that some Rally cars and shifter karts were interested in participating on Sunday. It Is refreshing to see that after #8 events Drag & Wind can still receive the interest of prominent racing associations. Provided this action takes place on Sunday, AutoSport would have done what was only a conversation piece at the doubles stand, the incorporation of multiple different racing disciplines participating under one roof in perfect harmony.

It could be said that there does exist a level of motorsport unity when properly managed and executed where competitors can exist in support of each other without intimidation or pressure and have a day of fun.....I could only hope that this unity will not go unnoticed.

VK super special was also a great event that pulled this off....to bad ego's and politics prevented it from going further.

Rawle ...any chance of pulling one of these off at the toruba stadium? .....seeing as ttrc getting it to use

Let's not jump the gun and see how this unfolds next weekend, 28th Oct.

Many suggestions are being put forward, many initiatives are being pursued, but we all have to be very careful at this point.

If the intended plans work out smoothly..... remember the suggestion by Rallyman a few weeks ago?

I still do believe in miracles, and have plenty patience. As I always say, by the Grace of God we shall eventually prevail.

Fellas...fellas... Please, If you notice at the top of organisers advertised flyer. AutoSport has pride themselves by noting a FAMILY event. Please let us not lose track of this treads intention. They are not promoting a day at the beach. There is a bath tub derby advertised to be held in the west soon where....boobieing maybe appropriate.
