What a night - AutoSport 1st Annual Dinner and Awards Evening.

A great night had by all - camaraderie and friendly rivalry came together for a fantastic evening. Trophies and gift baskets galore. Can you imagine $500.00 vouchers given away for door prizes?

Mosportt provided a great dinner - tasty, hot and plentiful.

Thank you Rawle Mahabir and your AutoSport Team for what you all are doing in moving motor racing in T&T in the right direction with CLASS, FAIRNESS AND STYLE.

Thank you all and have a safe and happy holidays. See you all January 27th 2013.

What is that Duane, people would now realise that is the same shirt I wearing around Christmas for the past few years. Money tight when you racing, especially when you try to run all 10 events.

I could well imagine. I see Kristian Boodoosingh tried to outdrive you on the track, but was even trying to outdress you at the awards!

AutoSport Racing recognized two young drivers who really stood out…..
The first one Stephen Hosein won his Class, then took over his father’s car in another Class and placed second, and at the end of the year his overall points placed him third – for his really successful year – and no small thanks to his main mechanic – father Trevy, and mother and team manager Sherry.

And the second young driver Kristian Boodoosingh - recognized as a Future Racing Champion. He checked in at our August Event, mere weeks after securing his Driver’s licence. We well remember his father approaching both AutoSport and CARS seeking to have him enter our Events in the past and we both politely said sorry, no licence, so sorry…
In that first event in August, he collared everybody in Class 4A, but made a fundamental mistake of red-lighting his first knockout run, and placed third. He missed the next event and then came back to Events #9 and #10, first place in 4A and fastest Car of the day in both Events – and everyone will remember the last event was a real challenge with the wet conditions – but he still managed to earn fastest car of the day - butttt, a mere .23 seconds ahead of that awesome Nissan R35….
AutoSport recognizes a real Future Racing Champion.

Sportsmanship Award 2012 Sponsored by AutoSport Racing Assoc.
Clive Sugden
for those in the know, is one of the most respected Circuit Racers of the 80’s, took in some Solodex events, D&W in 2011.
He may not know it but around the drivers at ARA Events he is recognized as a gentleman, sportsman, as unselfish, and even though just passed age 60, still very much a respected driver. Earlier this year Clive was in the finals running against Kerry P. – and after the second run he recognized his brakes was spongy, soft – so he decided to give up the run and conceded to Kerry – he indicated afterwards that his brakes was leaking - his driving experience and desire NOT to win at all cost showed a true champion.
The ARA committee determined that the qualities seen in Clive Sugden, throughout the year were what we, and everyone involved in Motor Racing, should set out to emulate

2012 Overall Points Champion Sponsored by Classic Awards Ltd.
Ruddy Beekee with a total of 1,010 points
– and he missed two events where he got zero points, so we could not deduct any points from him when he dropped his two lowest points!
He placed 2nd once and 1st in the other 7 events, and though running in Class 1A, still managed to record a fastest-car-of-the Day Award.

AutoSport had a tradition from its first EOY function in 1995, to the last one in 2006 of granting a special number to the Champion for the Year, and now continues that tradition by providing Ruddy Beekee, with the prestigious Number ONE, to carry for the year 2013.

For the record - this is Steven Hosein's first year in car racing at 22 years old.

Born and raised in Canada (recently came to T&T), he did go-karting recreationally so his results here is amazing for a newcomer to car racing at this level - the competitiveness and variety of vehicles. He and his family are seriously avid F1 and Nascar fans.

Thanks to AutoSport for giving this outlet for race car enthusiasts to enjoy themselves safely.

And in further support for this successful effort, both cars raced, were prepared by Stephen and father Trevy, at their State Of the Art Service facility on Caroni Savannah Road, New Settlement Chaguanas.

And they donated three vouchers worth $500.0 that were given out to three lucky persons who attended the AutoSport EOY Awards function. A hearty Thank You for your support.

this may be his first year in racing but the determination and raw talent that steven lets loose on that track clearly shows that he has racing built into his dna, apart from the crowds wanting to see the DWO do their demonstration they eagerly await to see this guy make the 360 on 3 wheels every single lap, hats off to you Stevie, well done, and to all other competitors who made this year a special one to remember thanks so much and we are all looking forward to another great year ahead, and thanks alot to autosport for giving us this great opportunity, keep up the good work

The older drivers were given 'Old Guys Rule' stickers, we would have to live up to that.
