AutoSport D&W #4 - 25th May at ARC

Postby AutoSport » May 16th, 2014, 9:46 am

Release #9 of 2014, and only our second Event to date!

So Dear D&W Competitors it is some time since we communicated with you so here goes…

The good news is that our next carded event D&W #4, is scheduled for Sunday 25th May at ARC Car Park.

This Briefing meeting will be held at the Chaguanas Central Regional Indoor Sport Arena. (Next to Saith Park).

Why here?

A meeting has been scheduled at this location by the TTAA and the Police Public Affairs Unit, to have for the first time a conversation, a dialog, an exchange between the Police and Motor Sport Competitors and supporters to work together, to address some of the concerns we all have on Road Safety, on what the Police are doing with their iRoadsafe Program and beginning a new partnership.

Apart from explaining the Road Safety aspect, we are going to have a one on one on the working of the brethalayzer, and more importantly, on the new equipment that will be used to monitor those who exceed the speed limit.

So what we are projecting is for our ARA competitors to come to this facility for 6:30pm, where we shall hand out trophies won at our Event held on the 13th April, discuss our new-style competition, and get some feedback, and also start to collect entries for our Event. As stated in our last release, we have NOT determined how many Events shall be counted towards the EOY Championship. We have NOT determined the final number of Classes we shall be running. As we analyze the times registered across the board, we need to ensure that fair-play is always uppermost in the final determination of our competition.

This may not be completed by 7:30pm when we shall be starting that other meeting with the Police Public Affairs Unit.

ALL other Motor Sport Competitors will be invited to that meeting.

Somewhere above I believe I stated that...

And answers to a query from a new competitor....

I will like to take part in the event on the 25th.
(1) I will like to know what is the registration cost for the event - $200.00 which gives you 3 people passes, 1 for Competitor, and two support crew, and 2 vehicle passes, 1 for competition car and 1 for service vehicle.

(2) And when/where do I need to register? Wednesday 21st May, at Briefing meeting to be held at the Chaguanas Central Regional Indoor Sport Arena. (Next to Saith Park). From 6:30pm.

(3) Are there membership fees that must be paid? No.

(4) Are there any guidelines I need to know as a competitor concerning myself and the vehicle…..- For 2014, our basic requirement is that the vehicle is in proper working condition and you must use a helmet, no sleeveless or short pants, shoes required, extinguisher fie, you can take a passenger similarly attired but must also sign a separate indemnity form.

(5) And what is the scheduled time/running of the event? 10:00am to approx 5:30pm.

(6) What time am I required to reach on event day? 8:30am is good time.

Where does the extinguisher have to be located? What size extinguisher is needed?

Hoping to finally make an appearance with my slow car.

The fundamental point is properly secured and easily retrieved if required, not less than 2.5 lbs.

Really, everyone should have one in their car at all times.

Don't forget - scrutineering of vehicles will be carried out from 8:00 am to 10:00 am on raceday.

currently changing my steering rack and hopefully rear tyres also, gonna be there regardless though.

extinguisher issues? i bolted mine through the floor using two small metal plates to strengthen the attachment point. definitely not pretty, but it works.

Ah my friend, but this picture does not say a thousand words.....

Lets have some of the others....

Actually ARA hosted its briefing meeting from 6:30pm for its D&W#4 Event carded for Sunday 25th May at ARC Car Park.

This was followed by another meeting where all of the Motor Spots Clubs/Associations were also invited to attend. With the intention of having the Police Public Affairs Unit, represented by Inspector Mystar having a conversation with the Motor Sport Competitors and supporters.

There was a healthy discourse and exchange with many questions being asked and the appropriate response being given.

And then the promise to work together to build a relationship with the Police, via the Public Affairs Unit and those involved in every sphere of Motor Racing.

Today we have been informed that the Arima Race Club will be having its AGM on Sunday 25th May. In a discussion with the CEO, we have agreed to NOT START our Event on Sunday until 12 noon.

We shall still be going up early and putting all of the infrastructure in place. We shall also take the opportunity to ensure that the mirror images of the course are as equal and accurate as we can possibly make them.

WE shall relax the arrival time of competitors to be not later than 10:00am, so that all can be settled and scrutineered by 11:00am, with a drivers meeting held at 11:30am. So there will be plenty of time for those not familiar with the new course to walk, and walk, and walk…

We are confident that we can still ensure all competitors can still have their four practice runs, then at least three competition runs before selecting the fastest four to move into the finals.

This must be said.

Despite the recent historical disruptions and this weekend's motor sport activities, this is an impressive competitor turn out for the Drag & Wind.

It shows the interest in a well structured event, and the need for more and future improved facilities.

I foresee taking corners in laps to be the future especially if you don't mind flying fish in your diet ? Good Luck All.

beautiful day at ARC today...lots of older competitors came out and showed us their skills.....

was a bit disappointed i didn't place in the top 4 but i made some huge improvements from the last event; mainly dropping my 4 secs...my clutch is on the home stretch so need to have that replaced for the next event....slipping in high gears....

a lil vid of my run....ran against that super fast subaru from tobago
