ARA’s final D&W Event for 2014 - Sunday 9th November.

Postby AutoSport » November 4th, 2014, 6:41 pm

So we are down to our final D&W Event for 2014, carded for Sunday 9th November at ARC Car Park.

Briefing meeting shall be on Wednesday 5th at the Chaguanas Sports Complex.

Results from the last Event, and points to date have been sent out to all competitors, and corrections made where necessary.

Interesting to see the close challenges in so many Classes. To note is the performances in the “Open” Class where David Lyons is now seriously challenged by the likes of Alistair Rahamut who was able to pull off the treble feat winning Fastest in Class, Best Reaction Time and winner in Class in August. And this was followed up by Khaleel Mohammed who did the double of Fastest in Class an Best Reaction Time at the last Event. Young Nicholas Mooloo is certainly showing his talent in this very competitive class.

The 54 Seconds Class is down to three major players, with some who passed through moving on to the Open Class.

And the 56 seconds Class will be a close call with Olatunji and Aaron pushing their respective Subarus to the extreme.

So we shall be counting points from 7 out of 8 Events, and the calculators / computers are out to determine how much is needed to just clinch the respective Championship honours.

See you all on Wednesday.

I hear Autosport phone still ringing for entries so that list may get longer.

This last championship event could turn out to be an epic one, ah seeing names of drivers that hardly race for the year. Some could test the faith with low by the end of the day.

And having serious demands for fun runs even before the "Bran-Attack relay".

These fun runs may very well show some new "Personal-records" being set since these runs will have no class-limits or breakout limits.

Rawle...I know I should have mentioned this sooner, but I came down this week with chicken-bola.

A few years ago when Solodex was in its hayday, the management would approach me for a couple V8's to do some demonstration runs...I would take a few....one time I took this 19' long 1972 Impala and ran it like a boat thru the cones...clipping NONE of them. Another time I brought an ol school Escort and also a 351 powers Capri that would just obliterate the tires.

It was really encouraging to HEAR the crowds roar of approval (was a few laughs in there) and then I had a long hiatus from everything.

I know the type of ship you run, complete with your list of priorities, agendas, rules and time frame, and having these things is a pre-requisite for a well oiled event....but if not for this event, why not ask us to come enliven the crowd a bit for you?

I have sat in your spectator area for a few of your last events and could hear the crowds "go to sleep" during your intervals. I even overheard one say "wey boy! DRAB and wind!"

Many have always asked me why the V8 Boys don't build a car for this event and for drifting, that it would LIVEN up the event. But for the rest of the Muscle car guys to bite into it....there must be some sort of "meeting halfway".

This was meant only as a suggestion, cause as I said before, you DO have your priorities and set guidelines.

Mr. V8, you are all welcome to participate in our Events, and if you come with a few cars, we can have a separate Class.

Great event as always Rawle and team

Mr v8 needs to hold his own events I.e. carshows and leave the racing events to people who actually enjoy competing.

Asking to be invited to an event yet complaining about how boring it is. Clearly you don't understand nor respect this sport. Not everything is about making money.

another well put together event by the ARA team

it wasn't one of my better days but i still went away with my adrenaline addiction satisfied.
i would have to say i defeated myself on Sunday by not utilizing the practice runs in the morning to try out the new rim and tire set up.
by the time qualifying started for the 57sec class i was all over the place ... posted two 58 sec runs and then red lighted the third and then broke out of the class with a 56 sec runs on my fourth, which eliminated me from the semi-finals. managed too get some good reactions times dialed in though.

just out of curiosity ...what was the fast reaction time of the day ?

kudos to rawle and the entire team for another great year of racing and looking forward to competing in the championship in 2015

Knight Rider I totally agree with you ! Mr. v8, I wanted to note your poor taste and professionalism in suggesting your request and then criticising the event.

You know all the members of Autosport personally, why then come here to make such a statement.

Something have to be wrong with you......Next time please write then a letter or call.

By the way. We still waiting for the PINKS ALL OUT !

Congrats to all class winners....yup another great event by the AutoSport Crew....considering what the challenges were at the start of the year, the loss of sponsorship which meant some events were run at a loss I think 8 events was a job well done. Though its racing in a carpark, Drag and Wind like Autocross and Karting will continue to be a supply ground for future Racers of T&T...Again well done Rawle and crew.

Another great year of competitive racing in a so called 'car park' but has proved to be a very good platform to build on.It has brought competitors podium finishes in the recent CMRC international race meet at wallerfield and continues to improve newer drivers.

Congrats and many thanks to the Autosport team for continuing to host these events and keeping another form of motorsport alive in T&T.

Looking forward to next year....Have a safe and blessed season everyone...

Learnt a lot and reached further than I ever expected. It has been a great year of competition new friends and sportsmanship. Looking forward to the new race season. Just hoping that all rules and changes settle quickly with the new layout.

Quotes like the one above is seldom viewed in T&T Motor racing. Words like Friendship and Sportsmanship are not always common place, but most can give testimony that it exist in The Drag & Wind Series.

I have seen the new course layout. The straight away is back with a most interesting wind. This course will be much faster than the previous 2014 layout and with the expected family day event coming up soon, all will be able to test and tweak their machines along with their driving skills in preparation for the 1st event in January.

CAR PARK RACERS RULE !!!

Okay!

First of all, congratulations to Autosport Promotions for hosting another great year of fun filled, entertaining, accident and incident free racing at the ARC racing arena.

Now, I (with all hope and faith) intend to race at the D&W series in 2015.
I noticed that Micro said that the first event will be in January, is that true?
Also any idea as to the date of the above mentioned family day?
And lastly will there be an AGM to discuss any rules/changes for 2015?

Thank you.
