hey,
I got my sportage in sept 2012 and have done a lil over 5000kms since.
Its the 2.0 gas AWD, 17" factory rims/tyres.

I owned a 2010 cerato prior to this so I knew more or less what to expect from kia. After 5000kms, i am throughly impressed by the ride, power deliverability, handling, fuel economy and service from kia.
I choose the AWD with a 4wd mode since I think it would provide
better traction and control than the fwd. the diesel would be 1st choice but the price was over my budget,
I use super as the engine requires 91 ron and I consistenly get 200kms for 1/2 tank.

I kept the cerato for approx 40,000kms and did not have an issue with servicing and had no hesitation with returning with another kia.

Would I recommend the sportage??? HELL YEAH!!!!
PS: the stock tyres are kumho and they are very silent on the road. I have noticed that some sportages come with nexen and hanook.

If you are from north visit kia and ask for luke sheppard. He is one sales rep who know the product he sells and goes beyond to assist if needed.

I've currently got a Koup that i'm selling. Same boat as you basically...
Dealing with Devin McNeal already. Hopefully get the same.
Thanks for your review - i'm getting the fully loaded one, which unfortunately doesnt come in 4wd.

congrats on your pending purchase!!!

the fully loaded ones are really impressive.

if u get the chance i would recommend you drive both the fully loaded (18" rims) and the AWD version (17"). when you do this please tell me if you felt a difference in ride comfort.

I know you will enjoy your sportage.

Interesting.........seeing a trend here once you get a Koup you move along to the sportage..

I still have my Koup , but my wife bought the sportage in August..

No problems so far only issue a a rattle audible in the cabin near the rear, given the roads where she works are terrible

Will try to check it out kritical...i was told you don't feel much of a difference...

Also, i've been told i'm getting the 2013 model (noone knows what the added differences are).

On a side note, the interior of the new Sorento is lovely.

I guess they will def add some goodies to the 2013 model.

I read where the engine was tweaked for better fuel consumption in the 2013 models.

Hope you dont have to wait too long for your ride.

it really is amazing to see how much kia has improved on their designs eg current cerato model, sportage, sorento and the Optima (so sweet)

No it doesn't :(

That i remember off hand...there's the basic 2wd...smaller rims, fabric interior, no sunroof, not sure if reverse camera and other creature features like that...

there's the 4wd basic which costs a bit more but same otherwise

there's the diesel - unsure if 2 or 4wd...

then the fully loaded...powered driver seats, panoramic sunroof, leather etc...

I didnt really take a rundown of the other models

As far as I can remember:
1) Fully loaded model with sunroof, 18" rims. this is FWD
2) No sunroof, 17" rims. this is FWD
3) No sunroof, 17" rims, same features as # 2 but this is AWD with 4wd.
4) diesel version - not too sure if it is fwd or awd.

Starr, congrats on your purchase.

I am assuming that your vehicle came straight from the showroom last week? if so, should you be revving your engine so hard at such at early stage?

Anyway, for my first 5000kms I tried to be a bit conservative on my driving style. I am approx 8000kms now and my avg speed on the hway is 120kms which gets me about 250kms from a 1/2 tank of super.

On a couple occasions I did excelerate to see how she would perform and I got 170kms comfortably and that was not flat out. Maybe you should give your ride some time to break in.

Want to switch as Premuim is really not cutting it.

Boss, super has been using from day 1 and no issues.

my sales rep says super is fine and the owners manual says 91 RON.

I also used super in my 2011 cerato and no isssues. Just as the sportage, the owners manual says 91 RON and super is unleaded.

boss, save yourself some money and use super.

So I filled the Sportage with Super a few weeks ago and for $150 (55L) wifey was able to get 400Kmh just under half tank.

Its the first time she got that much mileage.

There is also a power increase with the super when I asked her about it. I felt it, but i wanted her to say.

She also likes to full up when she gets to half tank and that cost just about $100. Not sure on the trip milage as she don't check, but she reset the trip counter like clock work each time.

So Kia peeps, Super is your new best friend untill.....

Been thinkin about buying the new sportage. Went to SS, haven't been able to test drive one yet. Some ppl have told me that it lacks power. Can any of you confirm this? How is it on the highway? I'm not really concerned about mileage.

Pretender, r u referring to the gas or diesel version?

I have the gas 2.0 and the acceleration is good. As in my earlier post I use super gasoline and I get approx 250kms on a half tank. From 1/4 to full cost $100.

Hope you get to test drive one for yourself so you will see why it hs become so popular on the road locally and internationally.

Interested in purchasing either the 2013 sportage or the rio. Any faults with the Kia so far? Do they take super as well?

I was referring to the gas version since I havent spoken to anyone with the diesel. I was initially interested in the diesel but SS says they do not have that option rite now. Salesperson said I should be able to test drive the gas version this coming week so I will wait and see.

wow!!!

you really had a bad experience.

I have had a 2010 cerato for close to 3 yrs, approx 50000kms and never even had to change front brake pads.
This is my 2nd kia and thankfully I have not had a bad experience.

Sorry to hear about your experiences

Interested in knowing what the typical rates are for the service intervals, as well as the ground clearance for the FWD basic model 2.0 Gas.

Having a hard time choosing between the new Cerato and the Sportage. It will be a replacement for a Sportero so thinking the Sportage will at least allow me to drive in similar terrain without the added discomfort in normal roads, and make it easier for parking in POS.

Just had my 20,000kms service.
I am surprised how quickly the mileage have added up.

It was routine mtce from the firm.
I also checked the alignment & rotated the tyres.

All is well so far. My front disc pads has approx. 50% life left.

Really have no issues thus far.
