Wasn't asking. Just justifying the price increase. The 255k jetta is fabric as well.

1. can you guys provide some information as to the service costs for this vehicle at 5,000km 12,000km etc.

2. saw that someone said you can bring in your own oil etc, what is the recommended type, where can I source it and what's the projected cost savings as opposed to using SS service.

3. mods such as led door sills, etc anyone knows where this can be done?

4. any other information regarding maintenance will be useful.

Thanks in advance!

1. Service costs are around $1000 for labour and parts if taken from SSSL.
($450 for shell helix 5w30, $50 for oil filter, $150 for air filter, $300 for labour)
AC filter every 20k km is around $250.
These prices are your average not exact.

2. I bought Amsoil 10w30 Signature Series (very overkill lol) at $300. It's a much better oil than Helix. And it can go for up to 12k km. SSSL recommends to change at every 7k km. So for providing a much better oil you even save $$.

3. These mods are usually addons that are meant to be a do it yourself. If they are electrical, you can easily get them installed by a reliable electrician. Just make sure you get adequate wire splicing attachments. Cutting and joining isn't recommended and will most likely void your warranty.

4. That's it to maintenance really. Make up your mind early if you want to maintain the car at the dealer or outside. If outside I suspect you will not be able to make any claims on manufacturer defects within the warranty period.

Its compatible for the Basic model (the model with the muffler tip hidden)
If you buying the Executive model then you will have to cut out the muffler tip for it to work.

I know a guy selling the 16" rims from the basic model if thats what you looking for.
Really not sure how our market classes the SX, LX and EX models.
Bought mine under the 'EX' tag.

Great info guys.

Has anyone had to use their warranty? Or has the new Cerato been trouble free so far?

The condensation in the light existed in the previous model as well. I wouldn't loose any sleep over that esp since it clears up quickly.

Anyone owners of the 2015 Koup around? Test drove one a while ago, steering on normal mode feels a bit stiff, especially compared to a corolla. Comfort steering mode actually felt much more comfortable, but the rep told me he wouldn't advise using it for driving?
Car also tends to slow down significantly when I ease up slightly on the accelerator, compared again to a corolla. Felt a bit strange but then I've been driving 1.5 or 1.6 engines all my life. Not sure if the Koup being a 2.0 was teh reason
Apart from that, car felt and looked great, real nice features.

Stop comparing it to a corolla .... It's not.

Live it up a little .... Buy it and enjoy it ... That 2.0 will have some fyazzz.

Any reason for not driving with the steering set to normal? These are 6 speed trannys compared to Toyota 4 speed so it definitely would have a differently feel to it because of the gear ratios.

Comfort mode is too loose imo. Normal mode is what I use on my 2014 elantra. Tyre pressure has a big effect on steering feel. Improved when I got Hankook ventus on 34 psi cold. Assuming elantra and Cerato have similar tech. Don't like ss so will never buy a Kia but I'm never buying Korean again. Reliability is not where I want it to be. Pretty looks with not so pretty reliability

Oil leaks, coolant leaks, a/c just not able and massy people just not experienced enough to diagnose these Korean cars properly. And this is after 10000km

arsenal32, from my experience the km remaining is an average taken from the consumption rate of your last refuel. If you drive in traffic Mon-Fri, your km remaining should read about 440 on super.

S_2NR, sounds like you got a dud.
Im on 40k+ km and havent experienced any of those issues.
The Cerato and Elantra carry identical engines.

S_2nr sorry to hear. I would take the dealer to task on those issues.

I've been through a couple of Koreans ...never encountered those issues.

Where did the oil leaks originate?

So after 23 months of ownership. My OE Battery had enough. I don't have anything additional installed. So it's regular wear and tear and daily peak time traffic.

OE battery was a meager550CA so I replaced with a 800CA.

Got some good reviews on a Columbian brand called Mac. So I went ahead and tried. Apart from someone's personal experience, they knew of one that moved from a Tiida to a hilux and now it's in a maxi.
