2016 Tucson A/C Issue

Postby Dizzy28 » December 30th, 2020, 8:58 am

Has anyone ever experienced a situation where the A/C only comes on when you press the gas pedal. It was never like that before but in November I realized the A/C only comes on once I drive off. The A/C still functions but does it indicate a bigger problem?

This would actually be the 3rd A/C related problem for me having had to fix the thermostop after 1 year (warranty) and I replaced the evaporator after 3.5 years (non-warranty, out of my pocket)

Sounds like clutch related.
When you return to a stand still, does the AC work?

Yip it continues working.
Only on the initial switch on does it require me to depress the gas pedal. Thereafter the A/C remains on.

Nope problem still there. Haven't gotten around to getting it checked. The fact I still have use of the A/C just under a different set of circumstances probably is why I haven't been on it as I should.

Been a while since I posted here
This issue was finally rectified in 2022 when the compressor went bad and required changing.
Also in 2023 I replaced the evaporator which was replaced prior in 2019.

So to recap, a Tucson bought in 2015
Thermostop replaced in 2016
Evaporator replaced in 2019
Compressor replaced in 2022
Evaporator replaced in 2023

Needless to say the OEM and aftermarket A/C for this car is real sheit
