It means the sender thread is a npt size. Typical vehicles don't use npt threading and I wont recommend by passing the original temp sending components.
Question, why add an additional temp gauge?
Vehicle didn't come with one on the IP?

no some vehicles now dont have temperature guages that are visible on the dash like the new tida and versa etc

NPT = National Pipe Thread. Some engines have dissimilar sensor threads (NPT vs SAE) near each other to prevent incorrect assembly.

The temp sender is usually near the radiator outlet hose or the thermostat housing. The Hyundai forum may have pictures of the exact location for your engine.

All engines have a temperature sensor. Some engines have a warning light controlled by the ECU, others use a sensor switch. If your engine has a temperature sensor switch controlling the warning light, there's no reason that you can't replace it with a temperature sender and gauge.

You may want to tape the switch wire back and out of the way, also.

So what's your reason for installing in a tucson?
I know of those vehicles, I have installed countless in them.
In my personal vehicle I also have an independent unit as the stock one was notorious for not telling the story in time and the engine is very costly to replace/fix.

because i dont want to wait for the red light to come on, because by that time its too late so i want something where i can monitor the coolant temperature better

Ok cool. Wasn't aware that Tucson didn't come with an IP unit.

Cleanest install is get a top hose adapter and screw the unit for the gauge in there.
Measure your internal diameter of your top hose to determine size adapter you need.

the gauge someone sent for me is a phantom 11 7831 mechanical gauge like this
https://www.autometer.com/2-5-8-water-t ... om-ii.html
the electrical ones i believe goes into the radiator big hose, but the mechanical has to be placed into the npt port it says

Wow you are bringing hot water into the vehicle!

The rad adapter has a npt fitting you can tap into.

I don't play with the ones with fluids in a vehicle.
Your mechanic can handle that for you.
The unit is like this.

I am fairly certain that this mechanical temperature gauge is using a calibrated capillary tube. It works more like a tire pressure pencil gauge - the actuator pops out as the temperature rises.

The problem with these is routing the copper tube to the vehicle instrument panel. It's not too difficult on a tractor or a boat but a wired gauge is much simpler for a pickup or a passenger car.
