Crew member Hayley gave St. Jude patients a special tour of the cupola, the biggest window to ever go to space!

The @Inspiration4x crew will share a live on-orbit update about their multi-day journey aboard the Dragon spacecraft at ~5:00 p.m. ET today

It's a Chuck Norris moment. Uranus does not have space, but space has Uranus

Just started...

"After three days on-orbit, Dragon and the Inspiration4 crew – the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit – will return to Earth on September 18, splashing down at approximately 7:06 p.m. EDT in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida.

SpaceX’s webcast for return of Dragon and the Inspiration4 crew will go live about 1 hour before splashdown."

NASA’S PROBE TOOK A VIDEO AS IT “TOUCHED THE SUN” AND WOW
IT WAS "LIKE FLYING INTO THE EYE OF A STORM."

NASA’s Parker Solar Probe made history by becoming the first spacecraft to have “touched the Sun” earlier this year, the agency has now confirmed.

The tiny probe made its way through the star’s upper atmosphere, taking important readings of its surroundings.

It even took the time to capture tons of images during its amazing stunt, which scientists stitched together for an incredible video with the Milky Way peeking out behind a stream of highly energized particles — an unprecedentedly close and fascinating look at our star.

the amount of stars in the background.....WOW

From a Twitter post: "Mercury, Venus, Milky Way, Saturn, Earth and Jupiter, with the latter overtaking Earth towards the end of the sequence." i.e. the two bright objects

Men have used rocket candy to put hobbyist rockets into space. A guy had launched a go pro.

With open source boards its not hard to send up a series of small block satellites that can link to each other via magnets making one bigger unit and use laser to communicate with terrestrial command units. Neo magnets are electrically conductive so each unit can be sealed and armored in a protective casing.

Each block has a purpose: communication, energy, fuel for propulsion and orientation, re-entry system etc and the entire unit has a purpose. Solar energy capture for energy, propulsion system (not disclosing), cooling system (not disclosing), aux electrical generator design and power source (not disclosing).

Carbon fiber, carbon kevlar is cheap, I have a roll of carbon kevlar and experience with composites.

The advent of aluminium ion batteries opens up new avenues.

Purpose of operation.....check the kinda price rocks not of this planet can sell for. hint hint.

Terrestrial comm's, global network with laser communication from wiling pardners.

All of this came to my mind on my own, not from following someone else who is rich and famous. I didn't even know who he was at that time.

Issues, hitting one of his satellites can prove an expensive mistake or hitting an airplane.

One big rocket is expensive, a series of smaller rockets are not.

To further cut cost and downsize on rockets or increase payload size, atmospheric launch, not surface. Use helium or hydrogen balloons to take the rocket up into the atmosphere reducing the gravitational force on it. Detach and fire rocket engine while still on upward momentum for a soft launch.

SpaceX giant rocket fails minutes after launching from Texas, explodes midair.

Rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation.
The crowd seemed happy - this was just a test after all

Why the boosters failed to separate from the shuttle? I guess the flight command sent the signal to self destruct at that point when the roll program could not be fully executed.

Statistically, the more satellites in earth orbit, the greater the likelihood of a "buss head" when something goes wrong,

They have government contracts: military and NASA for payload deliveries at various orbits. DoD always sending up stuff that are classified. I'm sure they're doing cheaper launches for any private company that needs a satellite up there, taking some business from the traditional Guiana Spaceport.

Plus the amount of test launches and $$$$$ and time has to go into R&D to create a super heavy vehicle launcher.... comparable to the Saturn V which had unlimited government resources and the top (+Nazi Operation Paperclip) scientists at the time.
