Geographically we are lucky to be close to a large continent in South America which makes it difficult to get those big hurricanes other small islands get as they tend to lose alot of steam closer to land mass.

But who put Trinidad so close to be in such an advantageous position geographically in the world?

That's right God is a Trini!

point taken. but that's only for hurricanes. certainly not pandemics with 1400+ dead and more each day!

Saw a Hurricane Hunter Meteorologist say they normally don't fly into systems until it's past 52.5Deg W so by the time they do for this system its already a major hurricane.

That 52.5W longitude is probably the operational limit of the WC-130J Weatherbird (3000 km range) from TJSJ USAF base in Puerto Rico and back again, plus they're wasting a lot of fuel flying against hurricane force headwinds.

Yea, on my son's online classes the parents from Tacarigua reported hail was falling. That was around 1.30pm.
Here in Tunapuna its a lightening and thunder show.
