Bmobile no longer listed as an Apple carrier - no FaceTime or iMessage on cellular data?

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » September 21st, 2021, 4:20 pm

Bmobile has been removed as a carrier listed on the Apple website
https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204041

This may result in FaceTime and iMessage no longer working while using mobile/cellular data for Bmobile customers.
FaceTime and iMessage will continue to work for Bmobile customers if they are on WiFi.

^ Yesterday I was on the road and wasn't able to get FaceTime to work - but today I switched off WiFi just to check and iMessage and FaceTime worked. So I'm not sure.

If imessage stops working over data I'm switching. Don't use facetime in public on data so I don't care about that.

So Apple ban bmobile from sending messages over its network?

I wonder if this is another one of Apple's artificial limitations. Maybe bmobile didn't pay them for the privilege of facilitating FaceTime data.

I would guess service would continue for those already setup but new connections won't. For setup its done via sms/mms in the background and once registered it works. If you take it off or change sims or something I suspect you won't get it back

Didn't think of that - thanks!
Also if you do a carrier update it might stop working as well.
Will have to wait and see
