FOXNews is reporting that the Apple Event on January 27th will focus on three projects: the Tablet, iPhone OS 4.0, and iLife 2010.

The "Come see our latest creation" event was just announced and takes place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco at 10AM Pacific Time.

Apple January 27th "Come See Our Latest Creation" Event Confirmed

Image

As expected, Apple is holding a "special event" on Jan. 27 to "come see our latest creation," with invitations being sent out JUST SECONDS AGO. 10am PST, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.

Let's take a closer look at the invite, which is, again, to "come see our latest creation." Using the word "creation" is telling in both its vagueness and its specificity: It says it's something new. Apple likes playing with words, too—remember the "something's in the air" tagline for the event they introduced the MacBook Air, their latest truly new product?

At the same time, it's interestingly far less weighty than the tagline for the Macworld where Apple introduced the iPhone, which indicated that it would be the beginning of something huge: "The first 30 years were just the beginning." It's a light and fluffy blurb, not the one you might expect for something that some people think could be the beginning of a brand new kind kind of personal computing, previously only depicted in movies.

It's also splattered with paint. Maybe they're being playful. Maybe there's a (finger)painting application. Maybe we're reading too much into a jpeg. Either way, we'll be there, live.

Rumor: Apple iPhone OS 4.0 Features Detailed

That's right, y'all. We're back at it, and this time we've received some exclusive iPhone OS 4.0 details from one of our trusty Apple connects.

Here are some iPhone OS 4.0 features, according to our guy:

• There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
• "A few new ways" to run applications in the background - multitasking.
• Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven't had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
• The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will "put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers" more than any other phone to date. Everyone is "really excited."
• The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

That's all we have for now! Who can't wait for next Wednesday?

hmmm...maybe i'll take down the 'for sale' sign on my 3G for now...

The Complete iPhone v.4 Rumor Roundup

When is it coming out?

Yes, a new iPhone will be released this year. Foxconn, Apple's main manufacturer, is rumored to have already received the order. But when, exactly, should we expect to see it?

If Apple continues along the schedule they've stuck to for the past three iterations, look for the iPhone 4 to drop this summer. The original iPhone dropped on June 29, 2007, the 3G came on July 11, 2008 and the 3GS arrived on June 19, 2009. While there have been rumors about a new iPhone showing up in April, those are sketchy at best. The good money is on late June/Early July. Probability: 95%

I figured that the iPhone 2G would not get the 4.0 update. Kinda Apple's m.o. progressively.

Sad that the 2G will not be considered much. I dont mind though, it is oldish hardware.

Im liking what im reading tho. Thanks mitch!

I like that last line, i didnt read it anywhere yet. But i hope it will apply to windows users as well. Although i dont mind syncing to Outlook, sometimes i want to sync my contacts with corrected names and i fear there will be duplicates. Ended up wiping my iphone and outook contacts. Good thing i backed up. I forgot to delete my iTunes backup and then sync.

LOL

iTrust

iPhone app to catch snooping partners
iTrust app prevents other people reading messages and logs any attempt at prying into emails or text messages

An iPhone app has been designed to catch partners who read their loved one's messages.

The iTrust creates a locked dummy screen to prevent access to text messages, emails or social networking accounts, and stores a record of every button pressed on the display.

Bob Nerberg, 26, of Oslo, who wrote the app, said his girlfriend, from Liverpool, whom he met while studying in the UK, helped him write it. He said the app would make relationships stronger.

"It's something everybody thinks about in a relationship – is my partner reading my texts and emails? Now you can be sure."

kurpal_v2, fawkkk. Didnt even know amazon had it on sale. i saw this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/2G-iPhone-Mid-Board ... 414670bb9d
but i eh gonna spend that kinda money if we still able to use the phone. Check the Misc. Bar. Centre, i believe shesh and crocs has them. Try to find out and CONFIRM if they have in stock. See if you can get one made before oct 2009. If you are going 3gs. 16gb 3GS should be around 4600.

jhonnieblue, connect to pc, put it into DFU/Restore mode and restore using iTunes. U'd have to do over ra1n and neuter again i believe. I hope u backed up recently.

Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek believes there is "a good chance" that Apple's "One More Thing" announcement will be the iPhone 4G, running OS 4.0, on Verizon.

“Together with our semi-conductor partners, we have ascertained that there is a reasonable chance the Asian supply chain is prepping for mass production of a new iPhone in March, for availability in late Q2, likely June,â€

Square Enix is bringing versions of Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II to the iPhone and iPod touch, according to VideoGamer.com

The publisher hasn't revealed any info on the mobile ports, but screens suggest they will be heavily based on the PSP editions, with redrawn graphics and character art, exclusive all-new dungeons and an updated camera view that gives players a new perspective on the action.

iPhone 4.0 rumored with multitasking; Apple tablet name claims

By AppleInsider Staff
Published: 12:35 PM EST

Reports about a forthcoming update to the iPhone OS continue to grow, with a new batch of rumors claiming the iPhone will gain "new ways" of multitasking and syncing; and two potential takes on the name of the forthcoming tablet have been presented.

There remains ongoing chatter that the assets acquired in last summer's purchase of Google Maps competitor Placebase could play a part in the new mobile operating system. Currently, Apple relies on Google's Maps service for its iPhone application.

In November it was revealed that Apple was seeking a full-time employee to take the Maps program "to the next level." With rumors that iPhone OS 4.0 could be a part of Apple's Jan. 27 event, it is possible a new Maps application could be a part of those plans.

In addition, Boy Genius Report chimed in Tuesday with alleged new iPhone OS 4.0 info from what they called a "trusty Apple connect." The source said Apple will introduce "a few new ways" to run applications in the background, and a brand new syncing ability for contacts and calendars will be introduced.

It also stated, somewhat cryptically, "there will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide," and user interface and graphical changes aim to make the mobile operating system easier and more efficient to use. The tipster said the update would be made available only for the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, leaving first-generation handset owners supposedly out of luck.

While Boy Genius Report has a respectable track record in forecasting iPhone-related announcements tied to its AT&T sources, its predictions pertaining to Apple have often fallen off the mark. Last year the site incorrectly indicated iTunes 9 would add Blu-ray support and said Apple would create a social media consolidation application, both times citing a "reliable" source.

Another claim from the Web site came in the form of a headline that suggested Apple could call its tablet the iTablet, though no mention of that information was included in the text of the article. Conflicting with that report, however, was a new trademark filing for the name "iPad."

Last week, the IPAD name was registered in New Zealand, Australia and Trinidad and Tobago by a company called IP Application Development. Apple was also found to be behind the company Slate Computing in trademarking the name "iSlate." Given the timing, MacRumors said they believe Apple is behind the IPAD trademark.

Earlier this month, another report said some developers had access to a software development kit of a iPhone OS 4.0 beta. It was said that the new SDK includes a new "simulator" for Apple's forthcoming touchscreen 10-inch tablet that aims to make it easy for developers to adapt to different screen resolutions.

In addition, in December, some developers were allegedly asked to prepare full-screen demos of their iPhone software for a public unveiling in late January.

I find that odd myself. The iPhone name was also linked to Trinidad & Tobago through a name filing.

In September 2006, a company called Ocean Telecom Services applied for an "iPhone" trademark in the United States, United Kingdom and Hong Kong, following a filing in Trinidad and Tobago.

all that and the iPhone & the future iSlate/iPad probably wouldn't be natively sold here.

If a telecom provider starts supplying 3G then maybe we will surely see an iPhone legitimately land here with a service
