Pioneer is now including auto-EQ/TA in all but their cheapest of HT receivers. Is this feature still limited to their most expensive decks?

Unfortunate that Pandora doesn't work here, unless you're going through a proxy.

whats the big deal with the DEH-P6300UB and DEH-P8300UB? Pioneer taking steps backward, my 2 year old head unit is better than these.

Best of both worlds between the MS-8 and the Bit.One.

Pioneer should have had at least one model in between the 99RS and the 2nd highest model now offered. Bad move by pioneer there, cus not everyone will want an external eq and cross that space constraints may prohibit

Ive heard that Alpine was working on the 800 since they discontinued the 701.

Seems that the new H800 also has a PC interface, with much improved audio performance wrt to snr and chan sep..

Kudos to Alpine.

Also, I heard that NONE of the Pioneer units for 2011 have the Parrot bluetooth chip, or at least, none of the boxes have the parrot logo. So say bye bye to phone quality.

you want great phone quality in a headunit go Parrot, with there new head unit (Parrot ASTEROID)
NO CD's, 4 usb ports however - ipod, iphone, usb drive etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3YflVfr ... re=related

or you want facebook and twitter feeds on your headunit.
http://ces.cnet.com/8301-32254_1-20027728-283.html

And maybe with all the tablet pc's being revealed for 2011 at CES if most make it to the production stage, who knows some may rather install them as headunits especially the smaller tablets.

Its a 6.5 inch subwoofer ... see the little SW annotation on the box. Looks like a pretty nice little unit.

On a sidenote ... is Rockford Fosgate displaying this yr?... because they have a new amplifier to be released; 300 rms 4 channel but get this its ... 1.53" x 4.25" x 6.75"

The 701 had as much as 7 separate 31 band EQ's.

I doubt they'd go backward with this unit.

They've upped to 36db/oct slopes, with a lot bore than 9db boost/cut on the bands.
I hear that its a lot more bands on the para eq as well.

According to the post in the talkaudio form it's a 10band para. It says front and rear, so I don't know if it's independent left and right as well.

^^^There are SNR and channel separation improvements, which may indicate a better DAC design, but you never know what to expect at that price tag.

Stetsom Looks very heavy Jon. Perhaps a bit too heavy for those NB-10's.

As for the H800...
165 band eq, so thats 5 31 bands, 2 for front, 2 for rear, 1 for center, and 10 bands for sub???

Great news on the 4 d/a converters.

Alpine

For 2011, Alpine is introducing a new range of lower cost Full Range Class D amplifiers called X-power. The X-Power range takes technology from the ever popular PDX range of amplifiers but provides it at a more reasonable price. All X-Power models feature Class D technology, even the full range models but these will be priced more like Analogue models. These amps will be around the same compact size as their bigger brothers in the PDX range, with the 5 channel model maybe slightly larger in foot print. The MRX-V60 five channel is quite powerful at 4 x 75w + 1 x 300w (2ohm mono). These amps are due for release in April.

Kicker

Kicker has introduced a range of inclusions to their current range of models. Worth noting is the popular “IX” Range. Kicker is showing an additional, you guessed it, 5 channel model called the IX1000.5D. Some of the great features of this range include the ability to stack the amps using the optional IXSM & IXSK stacking kits; this is due to their Class D compact design. Remote bass controls are included. Some special features include F.I.T. fail safe noise rejection technology, 3 choices of auto remote turn on via speaker level input. Connections are all on one side of the amp making it easier for installers and even the heatsinks can be customised by the owner using vinyl skins, available separately from Kicker. The 5 channel will join the current range of 3 models (a 4 channel and two mono models). Theses are well worth a look.

Boston Acoustics

For 2011, Boston will replace their GTA range of amplifiers with six new models that promise 25% more power at similar prices to the current range. The range includes two 2 channel models, a 4 channel model, 2 mono models including a 1000w model (GTA 1000m), and of course a new 5 channel model, the GTA 1105. The GTA 1105 has good power at 4 x 70w + 1 x 400w. This is a Hybrid model amplifier, in that it features AB / D Class technology in the one heatsink. Special features to the range include the ability for mono amp x-overs to bandpass, utilising a Subsonic Filter, Q-Tune bass enhancement, Symmetrical Signal Technology (SST) noise cancellation via balanced asymmetrical inputs, an integral mounting system that has no external feet protruding and a GTA-RSL remote level control is available separately.

JL Audio

JL Audio has been a no-show at the CES now for 2 years, opting instead to take up hotel suite space in Vegas during the CES time so that visitors to the CES can still visit and see new products while they are in town. I am not sure what JL Audio are doing this CES but I have noted that they have recently introduced a new range of entry level amplifiers, JX. The range consists of 5 models, the JX360/2, JX360/4, JX250/1, JX500/1 and JX1000/1D. The latter is the only model featuring Class D technology. JL claim features such as fully variable 12db filters, RCA outputs, high mass heatsinks, speaker level inputs, MOSFET switching power supplies and the RBC-1 remote level control, available separately.

Phoenix Gold

The re-birth of the legend continues for Phoenix Gold, re-surfacing last year around the world after being taken over by AAMP of America. They introduced some great amplifiers during 2010 and now they have introduced a new SD-Series range of compact full range Class D amplifiers and a great 5 channel addition to the Ti range for 2011. The SD-Series comprises three models, the SD500.4 (75W X 4), SD600.1 (600w mono) and the SD800.5 (5ch 75w x 4 + 300w x 1). These full range Class D models feature unregulated power supplies, surface mount technology, panel mount RCA jacks and a great looking high temperature plexiglass cover, amps are either 11” or 13” in length.

Also worth noting is the addition of a 5 channel Ti model. The Ti600.5 is an absolute monster in size and power coming in at over 28” in length and features 100w x 4 + 1000w x 1. High end features abound with dual un-regulated power supplies, panel mount RCA jacks, temperature controlled fan cooling system and the x-over pots even feature 41 exact detents for precise frequency selection. Nice …

Rockford Fosgate

Also a no show to the CES floor, as for about 5 years now Rockford have been taking up residence during the CES at the Palms Resort and Casino. Rockford invites their worldwide distributors to a range of functions at the casino, has a complete floor devoted to new product showing and demo vehicle space, they really do it well.

For 2011, Rockford has really stepped it up and has introduced new technologies, new ranges and additions to most ranges. Most notable is the new BRT amplifiers. BRT is a new technology created by Rockford, a new ultra compact, ultra efficient two model range of amplifiers that don’t use a switching power supply. They are small, at 6.75” x 4.25” and fit easily in the palm of your hand. The PBR300X4 (75w x 4) and PBR300X1 (300W x 1) feature high level DC offset turn on circuitry for easy installation into OEM systems. Check out my spy pics ...

Rockford has also introduced, like most other brands this year, a range of Full Range Class D amplifiers under the Punch banner. Four new models, P500X4D (75w x 4), P1000X4D (150w x 4), P1000X1D (1000w x 1) and the P1000X5D five channel, 75w x 4 + 500w x 1.

Polk Audio

Polk will replace their PA range of amplifiers for 2011. There will be 4 new models, all high powered at 275w x 2, 200w x 4, 1000w x 1 and yet another 5 channel offering at 115w x 4 + 400w x 1. The current range has been tested recently on MEA and are well worth a look.

German Maestro

The popular German based brand for speakers has now introduced 2 models of amplifier into their range for 2011. The four channel AB.4.85.10 and mono D.1.1000.10 are self explanatory in their model name, the 10 at the end is the year released. They are calling the range the “5 Series”. These amps feature a compact (12” x 11”) aluminium housing, stackable design. Specs such as phase shift, adjustable subsonic filter, master / slave function for the mono, x10 frequency switching for the four channel x-over allowing for active speaker control and speaker level inputs. I have actually had personal involvement in the design of these amplifiers and they will be well worth a look when they start arriving in early 2011.
