CS3A Neutral sign blinking, What causing dat???

Postby bcozier » August 25th, 2011, 9:57 am

So hear dis fellas...last night ah real press hard from Balandra, pause in Valencia, then straight south trying to beat the curfew..(grand bazaar to Gasparillo in 8mins..160kmh)

When I reached close to the Gasparillo flyover the Neutral sign on the dash started blinking, I immediately slowed down ( i didn't stop though) the engine was reving like normal, the rpm was normal, temp was ok.

I was wondering if the cvt tranny got overheated cuz it stop blinking after ah while as i slowed down, this morning it drove like normal.

Did anyone hav this experience before??

What cause that light to be blinking like that??

Transmission oil prob got extra hot causing the neutral light to blink as a warning.

well for starters you can put on an oil cooler on the tranny,it helps alot with keeping that temperature down

check your owners manual , the blinking rate fast or slow ( cant remember ) indicates a fault in the transmission or an overheated transmission.
If you said the problem disappeared then maybe the tranny was overheating.
If you planning on doing driving as you did then as daniel135 says in stall a tranny cooler.

For sure this was caused from the trans oil getting to hot, the owners manual has this, it even state if i remember correctly once the "neutral" light comes on to stop and switch off for some time before continuing.

that's a sign your transmission on its way out. this started happening on my ck2, which was pushin about 200,000 mileage. you get good advice already.

I used to change the fluid as needed however i used to drive hard, real hard.

made a las cuevas run one day. trincity to POS to las cuevas to barataria over the lady young....light started blinkin'...i turned off , switched back on and all was fine..got to barataria and the car sat for prob 4 hrs. back to trincity..it sat for 2hrs, heading back out...it was all over. Reversed out of my street the transmission stuck...even though it was in drive, the car just sat there revving. i shut off..switched back on..revved and put it in drive and it made past 3 streets before failing...all that worked was reverse.

Do an extensive check on your transmission. i burnt out/wore out my clutch from the hard driving. the light was an indication of the transmission overheating.
tranny coolers will help and simply maintaining your transmission is best..otherwise start to put aside money for a new tranny or a rebuild.

so you got the car 2mths ago so u goin the right route. from my experience however i'd suggest re selling or if you want to..get that new transmission one time.

bcozier...it make not be anything for you to panic or beat up about.

take note that my ck2 had alot of mileage on it and it was not the 1st or 2nd occurrence. initially i thought it was faulty electrical.

ignorance is bliss where its folly to be wise. i did not do the homework...and turning off and restarting the vehicle "solved" the problem.

im not sayin it is goin to happen...im sharing what would inevitably happen if left unattended.

Hi Guys..i'm hoping someone can help me out here....i have a cs3 and while on the highway i was driving at about 100kmh and all of a sudden i lost power to the car and it only rev'd off when i mashed the gas...when i pulled aside, my radiator coolant leaked out...stranger enough...when i filled up the radiator it didnt show any signs of leaks. Anyways, the N on the dash was blinking once per second and no gears going in. One place said 12000 to rebuild the transmission and the foreign used ones going for like 7500. I'm not a car person but I do my regular servicing. I have had pretty bad luck with all sorts of crazy mechanics and I really dont have the cash to be trying this and that....could anyone shed some light on the situation for me? I never had any problems with the transmission like it jerking or any noise, however when I sent it to a transmission guy to check because i though the gears took to long to engage (from park to drive or reverse), he informed me that with this type of transmission it usually take a second or two for it to engage. Other than that, I have never had a problem with the transmission to say. about two weeks ago, coming down the highway, my radiator cracked and I had it replaced which cost me almost 1800, and then my compressor went bad and now this. Just my luck! Any help would be really appreciated at this point! :)
