They're occupying a house in Casselton.... looks like they converted it into some kind of little headquarters. Believe it's been going on for longer than four months though.... either way it was a great idea. A friend that lives in the area says the area is much quieter and feels safer since they've been there.

Unfortunately I don't think they armed or have any real police power, cuz the guntas by the PH driver training academy...I mean dinsley government, don't comply with their instructions to NOT park on the mc road.

A few months back they had two fellas cuffed and standing near the park trying to hide their faces from passing cars. Looks like they were waiting for the police to come take custody of the fellas. Someone in the car took pics. Will see if those still around.

Following a recent spike in crimes occurring in the Westmoorings area, we have now received information that there is a new security patrol in Westmoorings, affiliated with the Ministry of National Security, titled “Committee Security Comfort.” This patrol was launched on Monday 16 June and they are patrolling from Carenage to Bayside. The objective of the patrol is surveillance only. If the patrols note anything suspicious they then notify the TTPS Rapid Response team.

This is part of a new initiative by the Ministry of National Security to “increase the eyes and ears on the ground” to provide information on any suspicious activity that may be observed. The initiative is currently using private security companies to provide this function and, for your information, they are as follows:

1. Protective Agencies Limited – Cover Diego Martin to Carenage
2. Innovative Technologies Security Services – South Trinidad and Trinicity
3. Amalgamated Security Services Ltd. – East West Corridor
4. Allied Security Services – Central Trinidad

With the exception of Amalgamated, all the vehicles will not be branded, but will have stickers on the door with the logo and words – “Community Comfort Patrol”. The vehicles will also have flashing lights. We are further informed that they will have a direct radio link to 555, in order to report suspicious activity. None of the staff in these vehicles will carry firearms. We have not been informed as to when these patrols will be provided to the areas, other than Westmoorings.

Ministry launches security programme to fight crime

IN an effort to put a dent in criminal activities and foster a sense of security for communities, the Ministry of National Security has launched its Community Comfort Patrols (CCP) programme.
The CCP is a joint initiative between the Ministry of National Security and the Private Security Network Commission (PSNC). The CCP will utilise law enforcement officers from private security companies belonging to the PSNC in residential areas and housing developments to deal with crime and the fear of it.
Yesterday the ministry issued a press release stating: “It is also the intention of the Ministry of National Security to align and sync the CCP programme with the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) to merge both the deterrence and detection applications with emergency response applications. Communities will see and benefit from the increased patrols through the combined efforts of our State national law enforcement agencies in addition to the registered and approved private security companies.”
The release stated the CCP was initially expected to begin in three police divisions, the Western, Central and Southwestern Divisions.
However, due to calls for increased security presence in residential areas and housing developments last week Monday, the CCP was implemented specifically along the east west corridor including, but not limited to Santa Rosa, The Crossings, Trincity, River Estate, St Augustine, Curepe, Barataria, Woodbrook, St James, Maraval, West Moorings, Glencoe, Carenage, Petit Valley, Diamond Vale and Blue Range.
It will soon be expanded to Pleasantville / Union Hall / Golconda and Chaguanas including Edinburgh 500, Lange Park and environs the ministry said.
And it stated communication to responders remained the same via the 555 and 911 emergency numbers. —Sue-Ann Wayow
