carluva wrote:Maybe true but just be wary that these vehicles have a fairly heavy stigma attached to them. I owned the passat which i bought for the same reasons as u, but got rid of it for obvious reasons. For me having a comfortable and best in class unreliable car which costs a mint to maintain should things go wrong was not a sacrifice i wanted to make. My advice to any potential vw owner is do your research and ask as many ppl as u can. Forums like these are good and u get purely unbiased views. Curiously, i commented to my wife yesterday that im not seeing many jettas on the road as i did last year and he rsponse was that they prob all parked up by best motors. Lol

I think best in class i think is that mazda 6 2.5L, would definitely buy if i was cross shopping that segment.
Still see alot of jetta's on the road but the new sales have drop severely! haven't seen much after PDD series.

I also think BA generally helps once you under warranty OR one goes to them armed with relevant information.

If men want to buy a car and expect toyota reliability .... then buy a toyota.

Some stuff should not be happening on a car after three years. Doesn't matter which manufacturer.

EXACTLY. Bet if u heard a Hyundai or Kia needed a new tranny in 3 years people would condemn all.
Allergic2BunnyEars wrote:That said I wasn't buying any of the other new cars in the Jetta's price bracket cuz none of them have the performance in terms of acceleration/top speed and potential for mods.
