So here I am again. Responses and advice please on the following:
- Can I carry a powerbank for my Tablet in hand luggage?
- Can I take a shaving razor in hand luggage?
- Any suggestions for good travel insurance that I can buy here in TT for a trip to the States?

yes to the power bank, no to the razors. razors are cheap though so you can easily buy them when you reach. guardian insurance and scotiabank provide insurance. check the links below

I carry my electric shaving razor and a disposable one in my carry on all the time without issue . the electric one also had a vibrating razor blade and it never been an issue.
no issue with the power bank.
In terms of electronics it only the samsung note 7 that is banned there is some restrictions on lithium batteries.
although it is not advertised if you bought you ticket directly from the airline with your credit card you probable have travel insurance .
Check with credit card website. Mastercard or Visa. same goes with car rental in the US

Power banks are not allowed in checked baggage but in carry on is normally fine.

surprised you said you can carry a disposable razor as ive had to throw away razors from carry on even when flying to tobago

and yup....most credit cards have travel insurance

also if you booking with expedia..you can pay extra when you booking for trip insurance through them (like if last minute you decide to cancel or someone get sick etc) but in any event..most credit cards has a pretty good insurance

Just pack you suitcase and go...if you are above board the biggest thing to fraid iz airline overweight luggage charges...

Carnival week I had a Bic disposable razor (the yellow ones) in carry on and it wasn't a problem (but then again it barely shaves stubble if 4 days old)

The banks themselves don't provide the insurance; that's provided by VISA International or MasterCard International and their underwriters. You'll have to contact them directly to inquire about eligibility and terms and conditions etc.

No I don't think it covers for medical insurance.
But medical insurance is not required during travel to the US.
Previously you needed medical coverage to apply for a Schengen visa. Since we do not need a Schengen visa any more, you do not even medical insurance to travel to those countries.

Things change up a bit in the last month
Trinis no longer have to fill out us customs forms. We can use the apc kiosks. If you get a x on your form, expect a 2 to 3 hour wait to get to a cbp officer

You can only carry-on a powerbank in some instances. If you carry a disposable razor, keep the safety cover on it.

Take a look at the TSA website for the latest. And be ready to surrender your phone, tablet and laptop to inspection.

Not seeing anything travel insurance related on Scotiabank Trinidad website? That looks like their north american website.

Looking for travel medical insurance options for elderly persons (over 75 years old). Seeing a few international providers online, but it seems most of them are tailored for citizens of US/UK/Canada.

You can try calling Pan American Life or 21st Century Insurance. My parents got coverage for a trip last year to Canada from 21st Century and they're both over 75.

I think there may a confusion around what Travel insurance is... I have an annual policy which covers everything from theft, holiday abandonment, delayed flights and worldwide medical fees if needed, death amongst many other things, this is not a freebie tacked on to my CC as this insurance may only cover very basic things designed to protect the CC company,.

Think of it in this way... if you needed private medical attention if injured while on vacation in the US would your standard CC insurance be sufficient?-> probably not, wold a Travel insurance policy be of use-> almost definitely once you have included the US a destination on the policy (you can select different countries when taking out a policy...I just pick Worldwide as I'm really never sure where ill end up)

Well it's not really "Travel" insurance I'm looking for, but more emergency medical coverage while traveling, for a single trip (not a continuous policy or annual coverage).

Local companies like Pan American, Guardian and Maritime do offer this, but only up to ages 70/75 - salt for anything over that age.

Any of the other benefits you listed aren't a necessity, but if they're included or are part of the package then no problem.
