Sure you want a bathtub? Takes up alot of space. Money could be pu to splurge on a real tops shower, if youre open to it.

Hey guys what do you all think about DIY STEEL FRAME HOUSE is the pricing fair? Is it safe? Are materials available in Trinidad? Who else does this?

Some were built in Welcome rd. The only thing gives it away is the siding. The first was done as a model, but I don't know who the company was.

if insulated properly, and u don't use normal steel for the structure, but a less corrosive galvanized metal for the structure, it should be good, and cheap.
actually built something like that myself, with plywood floors

It was galvanized steel. The insides were done with gypsum.

nah bai... 14'X22' with ply wood was less than 14k for the basic structure with normal new wave galvanize

all them prettiness, with flooring and fixtures triple the price, no quadruple it, and then use like a 30k for labor. still less than a 100k

It is by Anthony p Scott company,
They doing a development in using those prefab, supposedly a nice development
But sales going a little slow with the economy and I think they started giving different options of styles etc.

I spoke to them a few years ago.
They will construct on your land using any design however you will need to ensure that you have all the necessary approvals.

When I investigated it a few years ago:
1) prices of homes in their development ( Welcome , Cunupia) was similar to regular brick/ mortar homes
2) dis-advantage until it gets popular is that selling of the house will be a little more challenging. buyers may prefer a regular brick/ mortar
3) construction time should be a lot quicker that brick/ mortar. A big plus if pay bridging loan during construction
4) should meet all structural requirements

Note: technology has been used in Trinidad since 2008 or before. The 2nd phase of houses in Crossings, Arima used similar technology.

I believe that using plycem instead of plywood is smart. No problems with moisture, rot or insects. I'm sure that I don't see more plycem used.

The recent pipes are bigger than they need to be and look a little unattractive to much eyes.

Guys, looking for the grove and tong boards, like what we're used in wooden houses. Need it to do a flooring. Where sells them?
Or any other options for wooden floors?
Thanks..

I saw tongue and groove floor boards at Bhagwansingh. They weren't any kind of exotic wood. They are applied on top of a subfloor (usually plywood now) and nailed in place and then finished. Otherwise, you can use prefinished flooring that is similar to install but is thinner and has an interlock mortise joint and installed on top of a plywood subfloor covered with closed-cell foam sheeting.

Prefinished flooring can also be installed on top of a concrete subfloor, so long as it has no excessive moisture.

I am in the process of getting approvals myself, on hindsight I would check the building inspector in your regional corp and see if he does them. I have a feeling they will pass through the process quickly.

Highly finished and tinted they work well in garages, rec rooms, storage rooms, etc. Trincity Mall uses finished, tinted concrete floors.
