I thought i saw US ARMY printed on the tail.

What you saw was the letters 'AMC' which means Air Mobility Command. The name in the horizontal yellow strip is the name of the airbase the C17 is assigned to, e.g. Mc Guire AFB, which incidentally picked up the beast on Sunday. The final number is the tail number, e.g. 44131.

Yeah. There was one there yesterday. It was taxiing when I was heading offshore and I was hoping I was gonna get to see it take off and pass me in the air but it never did.

When I got back in the afternoon saw one parked up by the old airport. I guess maybe it was the same one.

because i'm pretty sure you don't work for or know anyone in DHS....but i'm glad you're so interested in US defense and how we all operate.
