In 2013, I would have said yes to going with another VW.

Today, I can't see myself going back to BA.. or anything Massy for that matter.

Consider this, BMW offers an optional extended warranty unlike this brand.

Don't have the facts, but if a 1 series has 170HP I'm pretty sure a 3 series has more.

The 316i has the same 1.6T engine as as the 1 series.

What Sylphy comes with that much power?
I think he's mixed up with the Teana

Plus ECO could "fix" that BMW 1.6T so that sylphy would look like it standing still in a race between the two.

2.0 sylphy is pretty quick, but it's front wheel drive and does not have the handling of a 3
How much is that worth? Guess it's up to the individual

Before everyone gets too excited check the torque figures of the two engines. 316i would not be a race against a sylphy. Sylphy easily left behind in straight line and in corners.

agent007 wrote:Not funny fact: A bmw 316i has the same HP rating as a bluebird sylphy and the bmw is 1.6 vs the sylphy at 2.0 We just can spend over $400k inclusive of insurance on a starter bmw when it have $100k sylphy's with the same power  Looks like we gotta wait, fix car and humble we self :!:

The ole turbocharged vs NA talk.
HP isn't everything. Check the torque figures and see when the Sylphy's max torque comes in at vs the 316.

 it's the truth. See below:

Bluebird Sylphy
MR20DE 2.0 DOHC 16V CVTC, MFI
98-101kW or 131-135hp @ 5200rpm
191-193Nm @ 4400rpm
weight: 2690lbs

vs

316i
N13B16 1.6 DOHC 16V valvetronic+double VANOS twin scroll turbo, DI
100kW or 134hp @ 4350rpm
220Nm @ 1350rpm
weight: 3219lbs

source: carfolio.com

 I know this is all bench racing theory talk but it doesn't look too good for the bmw

So anyone wishing to sell their current gen Passat or Jetta, simply head to the 320i :P

Hmm. Strange. Could have sworn the 316 came with the tuned engine from the 118i and not the 116. Oh well.

Look at those figures closely. Max torque at 1350 RPM............ vs 4400 RPM.
Also, the 316 outputs is max HP at a lower RPM as well. That sylphy never gonna pull like the 316.

Why these engines being compared like they in the same class anyway?
