CGI Renditon of the 2011 Ford Ranger

Postby lighthammer » June 28th, 2010, 3:22 am

Here's an article that shows an artist's CGI rendition of Ford's top-secret 2011 new-model Ranger.

http://www.caradvice.com.au/66274/2012-ford-ranger-t6-cgi-spy-photos/

Looks interesting, but a bit too much like a cross between the Honda Pilot's face and the Hilux or DMax's body for my tastes.

I still prefer the current model.

What do you think?

Looks like they are following the same design as the bigger model trucks sold in the U.S.

(Maybe some bigger headlights might work)

Yeah larger headlamps would look a lot better.
Ford seems to be unifying the look across their line, just like how Mitsubishi did with theirs in the late 2000's - starting with the Lancer and Highlander, then the L200 and Galant. Now they all have the same grill & headlights. Same with Toyota's vehicles too.

I drove a 2010 Ford Fusion in NY last month on a trip, and this new 2011 Ranger looks very much like the Fusion in front:

I think this might be the 2012 BT50. Although allot of car magazines are saying it is the 2012 Ranger. What do you think?

Hopefully they might put better quality headlights to compensate for the size in the final version.

"Pictured on this production prototype is Ford’s 3.2 litre Puma turbocharged diesel engine. It will replace the current 3.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. The 3.2 litre Puma engine produces 150kW and an impressive 470Nm of torque. It can currently be found in the Ford Transit."

"Transmissions expected to make it to launch are the MT75 (five-speed manual gearbox), MT82 (six-speed manual gearbox produced by Getrag) and the 6R80 (six-speed fuel efficient automatic gearbox)."

Where is the fackin drool icon!!! (201.1535 hp & 346 lb ft torque)

Mr. Go Slow - are those Ranger figures for REAL???

HOLY CRAP.

I think I'll hold-off on purchasing the Wildtrak until the new-model comes out.... with that freakin-awesome torque-tastic engine. Maybe a 3.2L Ford Thunder model (if McEarney can give me the right price (the current 3.0L Auto 4x4 Thunder is selling for $265K).

I just posted an article that confirms the 2011 Nissan Navara has a new turbocharger that boosts the output torque to 450NM. That big truck is gonna fly now...
Can you just imagine a smaller truck like the Ranger though, with MORE TORQUE than the new-model Navara???

*mind explodes*

You know what that would mean, though.....

By this time next year, www.trinicarsforsale.com is gonna have a LOT of Ranger XLT's, Ranger Hurricanes and other trucks for sale.

Must have more power.

I hate it when ford does this - current owners will want to rush and sell theirs to get this - but definately it will be expensive - more than it is right now - i am sure the thunder will hit around 300k when it reach here- damn 3.2l with a six speed auto?

I hate that Ford does that too.. They should take a point or 2 from Toyota.. Keep the model line running... DUH!

To me the first photo looks like a Hilux with a changed front...

Well, if the new model Ranger does turn out to be very appealing to those looking to upgrade or trade-in their current truck, then sure you'll end up seeing a flood of trucks/cars for sale locally.

But there's an upside to that though - more trucks available for cheaper by second hand. So a first-time buyer or person with limited budget can get a mid-high spec second-hand Ranger for cheaper, possibly even with a warranty still intact.
