gdi high pressure fuel pump

Postby insaneindian » May 23rd, 2014, 10:11 am

morning tuners,

does anyone know if a gdi high pressure fuel pump can be serviced???? (its the one on the engine)....
I have two that were changed out of some cars, I once heard that they could be serviced and reused but no one could say where.....
any suggestions???

btw they were changed because it kept throwing the code for low fuel pressure.

It can be opened and cleaned. Serviced???

See the problem is that inside there are seven piston like shafts that rotates, normal wear and tear causes it to lose pressure due to thinning of the walls.

If you're not mechanically inclined don't open them, a lot more complex than you would think.

By chance is it the green sticker pump?

Yup the older model high-pressure regulator can be stripped and cleaned.
Don't remember the label colour though.
I posted the details about it a few years ago. A "search" should help.

IIRC the newer model is "sealed." Never tried opening one so I can't comment about "serviceability."

The older one is the green sticker.

The newer one is the blue sticker, sealed but can be opened and cleaned but from the design a lot can go wrong opening.
