Would you pay for a Caribbean streaming service?

Postby Duane 3NE 2NR » June 30th, 2021, 9:55 am

With all these new streaming services like Disney+, Netflix, HBOMax etc, would you pay for a streaming service with content from around the Caribbean?

An agency is collecting data on this. Would be great if you could fill out this short survey

If it's cheap and has local news stations streaming at 1080p minimum, maybe some music video, documentaries, stations as well.....probably would pay maximum of $4.99 USD for that.

I expect most of the Caribbean content to be crap, but I assume they might have a handful of local or regional shows that might be watchable.

Hosted here? They'll need a fuckton of capacity and bandwidth.
QOS will be a key selling point and they will have to be priced to compete with the giants and offer the same level of customer service.

Best of luck to them.

not interested in most Jamaican programming or US-based Caribbean programming. It's just not my preference.

Might be interested in programs from Guyana and the OECS. Guyana has some good religious programming. OECS has good comedy stuff and tourism-based stuff. Gayelle had some good comedy programs they did on a shoestring budget (Ramsingh's, Snacks, Philo, Indian Cultural Vibrations, etc).

Once the quality is there and they taking paypal for annual plans, I would consider.

No one hosting anything here, they'll use AWS or some cloud service. Caching servers at the ISPs will take care of the rest.

I wouldn't mind as it would improve our knowledge on current affairs in neighboring jurisdictions.

What good local/Caribbean content do we have to justify a monthly fee?

I can guarantee it may start of hot but will die down very fast
