The 3rd instalment of Trinidad and Tobago’s newest form of motorsport, Gridkhana, proved to be the best one thus far!
Despite a clash with the TTRC x TMA’s Hill Climb event in Tobago, 35 entries took to the starter lights on August 14th.
Keep in mind the organizers of this form of motorsport are still trying to work out the kinks this year so we can move to a proper GridKhana championship for 2023. With that in mind, the first round of competition saw all competitors facing at least three different opponents and the best moved on to the knockout phase in the second round.
And definitely GridKhana delivered with some great battles through all groups. With only one competitor in GP1 Victoria Mooloo stepped up her game and moved up to GP2 where she still managed a top-four placing.
Anil Mack came out on top in GP2 after a Battle Royale with Runul Roberts who had a big moment pushing his car to the 110% level. Runul has now been renamed ‘Runoff ‘. Please don’t blame this website we just report facts!
In GP3 the finalist all displayed great skill in driving and control. Despite Shalan Mack’s quick Nissan March and the RWD drifts put on by Chrisen Maharaj in his RWD Subaru STI, it was the well-prepared and exceptional car control displayed by Kristopher Lucky that gave him the win.
GP4 saw the usual suspects in Dario Jordan, Nicholas Mooloo, Goodwill Theodore, Adrian Bynoe and first-time entrant to Gridkhana Sarah Partapsingh battling as the top five. Epic battles in this group and despite a huge attempt by Goodwill to redesign the course, In the end, Mooloo was on a different level winning followed by Sarah and Dario.
8 bikers faced the lights in two classes, Moto1 and Moto2. Moto1 Champion Brandon George is showing his dominance in this class followed by Randall Dhoon and circuit regular Christopher Smith. Despite a valiant attempt by youngster Salem Mitchell, experience won out for Ronnie Ramdeo in the Moto2 category.
