Launch of the 2020 Porsche 911 at Porsche Centre Trinidad

A Porsche is a purists sports car and the 911 is the marque’s most iconic. Lifestyle Motors revealed the all new 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S at the Porsche Centre Trinidad last Friday evening. Between the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, specially invited guests were given an up-close and personal look at the newest version of the 911, which Porsche codenames internally as 992.

More than ever, this latest iteration draws quite a bit from the styling of the earliest 911’s making it recognisable at a glance, almost half a century later, but with ultra-modern design cues inside and out. Porsche has been very good at making every new 911 even better than the previous model and this one is no exception. You can check out our test drive of this latest model as we took it through its paces at the Porsche World Roadshow in Puerto Rico a few months ago

There is now only one body style with the 992, because all models are now wide-body. One size fits all. Many exterior features are new, from the Porsche LED Matrix System X-SIGHT headlights to the rear LED strip across the brake lights that span the entire width of the massive back-side. The rear is further accented by the 3D PORSCHE insignia and the vertical 3rd brake lights, iconic to the 992.

As with other 911’s, this is a flat-six, rear-engined, two door sports car that seats up to four, even though we have to admit the seats at the back are a bit cramped. This is a driver’s car and it shows. In this latest model, many amenities from the Panamera are at your disposal, from the massive 10.9-inch capacitive glass touch screen infotainment system to the digital displays on the instrument panel. The tachometer is still mechanical though, as are some of the knobs and switches, which would keep the purists happy, there is even a cup-holder! It is an incredible marriage of functionality, high-performance and luxury. The driver can quickly switch between driving modes from “Wet” all the way to “Super Sport”, adjust the angle of the fully retractable rear spoiler, set the stiffness of the suspension, open up the exhausts and even adjust the height of the nose for traversing over miserable speed-bumps, all from the touch-screen. This is a super car you can drive every day.
