Rally Trinidad Scrutineering

Rally Trinidad Scrutineering

All the cars are here, all the crews are ready..both foreign and domestic, stages are in their final prep and the countdown is on to what will be a a great two day and a night of rally action.

Wednesday afternoon saw all cars being weighed and going thru final scrutineering, all safety equipment for both driver and navigator inspected and of course…..pre-rally jitters and cheap shots at your fellow competitor. The briefing was held inside La Cantina restaurant and with crews seeded, the custom top three had to pull numbers from an envelope to determine who starts the dreaded #1 position on the road. Why dread, in a rally unlike any other motorsport, the first car sweeps the course for the cars behind, which usually makes the guys behind you faster. Sometimes it pans out later in the rally, but no one really likes to be sweeper.

That honour interestingly enough goes to defending Rally Trinidad Champion, Ryan Pinheiro with his son in the hot seat….who also started last year as car 1. Could history repeat itself and car 1 finishes as Car 1……

Many thanks to C3 for allowing us to host the cars this evening and as well, La Cantina restaurant for hosting the Club for the briefing.

Action rolls off on Friday night at the Queen’s Park Savannah for the first 2 stages. Saturday will be a mix of 2 stages, Bronte in the morning, with Cedar Hill after lunch. Sunday is an all day affair at the Jack and Jill Stage in Couva. So….pack yuh coolers, umbrella, chairs, sun block, dust mask for you weak lung people…and come take in Reggae vs Soca this weekend.

….see you in a few.
