If you were at Rally Trinidad last year there was no mistaking ‘Baby Blue’. Frank Kelly out of Ireland arrived here a relative unknown to the local Rally fans but by the time he finished his first run in the Stadium, the multiple Irish 2WD title winner had won the admiration of most of the spectators. A relatively quiet individual, he turns into mental beast mode when he gets behind the wheel. He dominated the 2WD class here last year and returns a bit more experienced and will be co-driven by the very experienced Robert Cadiz who sat with him for Rally Barbados 2014 where they pulled out a 3rd place overall 2WD and 2nd in class.

PAUL FITZGERALD x JOSHUA PLAZA

Car: Ford Escort MkII
Paul Fitzgerald rounds out the 3 Irish teams of RWD monsters. His car may look like the ‘Baby Blue’ Escort of Frank Kelly’s but is a little different, sporting a 1600cc Engine rather than the more powerful 2500cc of Frank’s. Paul is right up there in potential however and should get comfortable relatively quickly as he will be partnered by seasoned co-driver Joshua Plaza, who has been an avid competitor in both Trinidad and Barbados. Regardless of the outcome Paul will be surely full of entertainment for the local fans.

SHANE MCGIRR x JACKIE ELLIOT

Car – 2.0L Toyota Starlet RWD
Shane McGirr hails out of Ireland, and the most intimidating fact about him is that he keeps up with Frank Kelly in a Rally. This should speak volumes about his ability and the car’s potential. Although new to Trinidad, he should acclimatize very quickly and the battle should be on for top 2WD. His co-driver is his girlfriend Jackie Elliot, who has been in the car with him for a few years. The car is a 1983 Toyota Starlet that pushes out some massive horsepower from the 2.0L engine which is fitted to a 6-FWD sequential gearbox, which is similar set up to Frank Kelly’s Escort.
